Is there any way to check to see if the ignition switch is working??

I have had starting issues---more of a lack of---so i want to know if there is anyway to check to see if the ignition swith is actully doing its job or if its crapped out.

I forget, but with key in the crank position, shouldn't you get 12V at the "I" terminal on the solinoid on the drivers side fenderwell.

If you've got the original switch, you need to get it replaced ASAP. There is a recall. Seems some of them burned up in the car. Mine was melted when I replaced it.

do i just call up my ford dealer and ask about the recall?

also, did you replace the switch yourself? if so, can you give me details on the swap.

turn it to run position and push a pin and slide it out.
you could get under and probe the wires with a test light while jiggling the switch to see if continuity is broken. but they are like 10 bucks and known to fail, so if you have doubts, do it, i say.
