I am using the standard Clevite 77 MS-590P bearings with ARP studs torqued to 80 Foot pounds as required by ARP. I had these bearings checked for clearance by my machinist when it was line honed, and he measured .002 with his bore gauge. Now I am double checking and come up with this using Plasti Gauge. This will be a street rod and for weekend enjoyment not a drag car.

1.5 is fine for a street engine. Just dont rev it to the moon till it has a good breakin, and dont run thick oil, use 5W30.

When I built my 393w clearance was .0025, which iirc was acceptable on a street car.
I'm no pro engine builder but I would think .0015 would be a bit tight, keep in mind though
plasti-gauge isn't going to be as accurate as a bore gauge.
Give your machinist a call and run it by them.
