is this blow-by?

the other day, i was sitting at a stop light and a vette pulled up next to me.

we started off normally, but then he opened it up, so i opened it up too. then at about 3000 rpms, all of a sudden the car felt like it died for a second and then came back to life. and there was cloud of smoke behind me.

this has happened 3 times so far, and it scares me.

i have also noticed that if i open the throttle to about 2/3 or so, i can see some smoke behind me then too. it looks like it might be oil smoke.

would blow-by cause that? or might i just be really rich, so much so that it can kill the spark?

Black smoke is gas.
Blueish grey is oil.
White is water.
My car did that a few times was just a loose battery cable when I'd hit the gas it would make the car stall from moving the cable a little.
Seriously? I know my car has a loose connection cause my clock is always getting reset. But no matter how I thighten it up it just wont hold good enough.

did u even have a good shot to beatin that vette?
If youre talking to me, my stock Mustang beat him by about half a car length. But I know that something was either wrong with the car, or the driver was an idiot. But I still beat him. :D

believe me, i know what oil smoke looks like. my wife's minivan was burning oil for like a year before we got rid of it.

to me, what i saw in the rear view mirror in the seconds after this event (while i was freaking out about wtf had just happened) looked like oil smoke. it was not dark enough to be gas, and there was way too much of it too.

i saw the gas smoke from the vette when he stepped on it, that (and the roar from the engine) was my first clue that he had stepped on it.

i don't know, i doubt it. i think it might have been a z06 because it had those vents on the sides near the rear wheels, but i'm no expert on vettes, so who knows?

and i have been afraid to really get on it much because i still don't have much confidence in my tune.

off topic, but blackvet, i'm curious what #'s of boost you're running and what numbers you're making with those mods
i don't know that either. i have not had it dynoed yet and i haven't installed the boost gauge yet. it is the 8# pulley, but that it for a 1.5L and mine is a 1.8L, so the boost is probably at least 8#, maybe even 9# or 10#

spark blow out maybe? anything done to the ignition?
no ignition mods, could be spark blow out i guess. would there be smoke from that?

yeah sprark blow out is a mother.... can be fixed with spark plugs gapped at like .030 and an MSD ignition msd stands for multipule spark discharge which i am assuming it sparks more than once to burn all of your fuel and even if your first spark is blown out, you got the next one

usually with spark blow out, it only happens under load/psi's and it make is feel like you have no power along with one or more horrible misfires
