Is this enough?

I have underdrive pulleys on my stang and it still has the stock alternator, so naturally I have the amp light coming on, the dimming lights ect. at idle. I was looking at larger alternators and I saw some 95amp ones and some 130amp ones. My question is, if I'm running the pulleys and an electric fan, would the 95 amp one be enough, or should I shell out the extra $$$ for the 130 amp? Thanks in advance.

Were it me, I would spend a little more and get atleast a 130 amp unit. I went with a 160 amp unit that has a reported 75 amps at idle (more than a stock alt has total) and it is a vast improvement.

I am not a fan of U/D's, but I wouldnt U/D the alt anyhow (it is not very parasitic). You can get O/D pullies for the alt from ASP, Steeda, et al.

go for the 3g.......i just did mine and it's nice not to have to worry about it..........the stock power wire should be upgraded regardless.......
first time i drove my car at nite after the 3 g i kept thinking my brite's ( hi beams)were on......lol.......they weren't, but thats how big a diff the 3 g made and if your going with electric fans etc, might as well.....it's really not a difficult conversion at all.......it seems like it at first but after you do it you'll wonder why you waited......

I've got the powermaster 140 amp... works great. Gets a little low at idle, but I don't spend much time idling. Installation was a snap, too ... being a one wire type alternator. Only downside is the price amnit:

I should upgrade the wiring? What will happen if i dont? I never thought of that.

when you install a 3g alt you need to up grade the power wire........the stock one sucks as it is......let alone putting in a higher amp alt.
this article pretty much explains it all and theres a butt load of posts in here about it, i should know i just made one for when i did mine.....

you can buy an already made power wire from pa performance for about 50 bucks, then the alternator itself, and thats really all you need. the only other thing is having to slightly clearance the alt bracket but....all thats explained in the above link....
it's about 200 bucks for a new alt from auto zone, they were cool and gave me 40 for my old 2 g core. you can buy the alternators else where but i prefered a normal auto parts one so if it went bad i could easily exchange it and not have to send it any where for repair....
ofcourse thats buying stuff new. if you can find a used 3g and or make your own power wire you can do it for cheaper.....

I would go with the 3G upgrade as well. Although I never upgraded the power wire and have had no problems. (Been over a year) I have the stuff sitting in my tool box at work but just never got around to doing it. Lazy I guess.

Go with the 130amp at least. As said before, upgrade the wires, its not as hard as it sounds

I would replace that power wire asap.Someone I believe recently posted pictures of the stock wires where the heat shrink tubing was partially melted after running a 3g for a year on the stock power wires.

Even if you don`t have a melt down or fire,the stock power wire/s won`t carry/deliver the full output of the 3g alternator.

Is this enough?
