if your asking about the power it made, yes it is possible. if your asking about it moving on the rollers, yes. when it moved, the turbo kicked in. the great increase in power made it jump.

Plus the dumb asses only had one rear tie down on the car on the first pull. You should see the dyno graphs from the supra's... its like nothing, nothing, nothing, then a jump of hundreds of HP in only a hundred or so RPM. That's why they often get termed dyno queens because of the way the power band is. I tink it'd be AWEFULLY scarey to drive something with that type of powerband (meaning all the power comes in INSTANTLY when the boost kicks in).

That was 4 years ago. That car sold on Ebay for $56,000 bucks many years ago. That's after he changed to a front mount intercooler, single larger turbo, nitrous, injectors where it made over 1000HP. All on the stock block. He was trying to compete with "The Walser" supra which supposedly was the fastest Supra in the World. Later he sold it and bought an Enzo or something. The stock block rated at 950HP. Sick schtuff man! I have many of the Supra vids on disc.

Look closer, there is another rear tie blending in.

I can't see one (on the first shot), there's one on the second one though.

So if it all kicks in, at the very last few seconds, wouldn't that mean possible spinout on a track?

That's sick, can't believe that's on a stock block too.

The one thing Toyota did right was the supra. It seems the motor is near indestructable (like the 03/04 cobra). I personally haven't heard any of their motors breaking except for one turbo/N2O combo.

Secondly, like killer said, they only see those numbers for a brief period of time, so they do really well in the 1/2 mile, but the 1/4 mile is a different story. Not calling them slow in the 1/4, but a V8 with those numbers would blow it's doors off.

Next, just like when you shift gears; If you nail the throttle too soon before a shift, you can break the tires loose very easily (or at least I can on the 1-2 shift). Before their power kicks in, they are 4-500 rwhp cars, and then they instantly go to 8-900. I wouldn't want to deal with that on the track.

I met a guy in Kansas City that had a completely stock 03 Cobra. 8,000 miles, and he was having his third shortblock installed. It burnt the #3 piston twice. Here's the great part. Ford paid for the first replacement(warranty), but denied his claim the second time it blew claiming that he had "made changes to the chip". So he had a car he owed around 30k on, and had to pay 8k for his third motor. The guy had stainless headers, full stainless H-pipe, a ported, and polished blower, programmer, gear, short throw, ect. sitting in his living room floor because he couldn't keep the car running long enough to do the mods. Not bashing the Cobra here because I think their sweet, but it definately made me think after talking to this guy.

As for the Supra, I'm pretty sure it's the same motor in the Lexus IS300, just N/A. I've seen some obscene turbo set-ups on them.

What do a 400hp, 600hp, and 800hp Supra have in common? They all run 12's.

Guys,

These cars are not all dyno queens. You need to have everything on those cars working together in order to get good times out of them, just like mustangs. If you don’t have the right parts, or the right setup with those parts you just won’t go fast. I’ve seen plenty of people on mustang sites who put down 4-500 RWHP that just dip into the 11’s some don’t even make it that far. I’ve seen H/C/I blower w/nitrous mustangs run low 12’s on slicks! I’ve seen single turbo 700rwhp supras run mid 12’s and I’ve seen very similar cars run low 9’s. Point being that you can’t underestimate what these cars are capable of running. People that get it right with these cars lay down some incredible passes in them.

Oh I agree with you Troy, but if some of these guys ever saw a dyno graph from these cars they'd know why I made the statement I did. I have 2 friends 9they are brothers) that have 3 supra's (and a host of other cars... acura NSX with HRE wheels, #20 something on the first fixed roof C5's, vortech blown 93 camaro... and they are my age and younger) Anyway, the supras are freaking quick, but they are VERY peaky. I wish I could find a dyno graph from one of them and put it up. Anyone have one? I want the gusy to see how they literally jump hundreds of HP in a matter of a 100 or so RPM's. That would be a scarey thing on the street and track unless you had the suspension and tires to hold that shock.


I will say that my jaw dropped this summer at my home track. A turbo supra like the one above pulled up to the line. It was stock appearing except for what appeared to be 18 or 19" wheels. The as he staged you heard this beast roar to life and WHAM he was off. The thing went a low 11 at 135mph on freaking 18-19" street tires! That impressed the heck out of me!

Yes, they are very peaky and have a very abrupt spike in power when the boost comes in. Done right however that's not as big of a problem as it could be.

Funny thing is that in 2003 I was out doing a little racing in my 95 and ran a single turbo Supra on 19" wheels! I was pretty scared of the power it could make but took my chances with it. When the power hit that thing could destroy the tires @ 100+! Unreal! I was told that it made at least 650+ to the tires and would trap at 130+ MPH. That's just amazing to me. Then over last winter that race showed up on a street racing video we were watching a friends...funny how that stuff gets around. That car was sold later that year...any chance it's the same one you saw??? I wonder???

Nope, they are completely different. Different block, heads, internals, etc etc. That is why the NA supras aren't worth a damn. They look nice, but that's it.

Sucks to hear that about the cobra. But if he did an aftermarket chip to his car, and decided to take it in for warranty work, what did he expect????
