So I'm looking into buying a new generation Mustang, and last week I test drove one that is everything I want: silver, v6, manual, coupe with low miles. Everything is perfect, except that when I drove it, it omitted a strange and unpleasant noise coming from the transmission that I hadn't heard in any of the Mustangs I drove before. However, this was the first Mustang I drove that had a manual transmission. It also has an AirRaid cold air intake. The owner says it has never been in an accident of any kind and does have a clean title. Is this a common problem in new generation mustangs or is it possible that it's making the noise because of the CAI? It kind of sounds like the engine is revving up while I'm breaking and when I don't even have my foot on the gas at all. Can anyone help?

Should not be no noises. As for the idle, they have a sensor in the tranny that determines if your moving or not and while your rolling it will kick your rpms up (too high imo) and is very agrivating. It seems to be limited to the v6. It possibly could be a defective sensor cause I have disconnected it from the tranny before and it stopped doing it.

I have a V6 auto, if I leave from a stop in a faster than normal pace, I hear a slight whine in first gear, it stops as it shifts into second and it whines till third, no further noises in the rest of the gears. Comparing apples to oranges here, but I can hear my GSXR1000's gear case in all gears. The whine from the car doesn't sound like a mechanical whine to me, sounds like a vacuum as if it was coming from a CAI.. Which I do not have - yet. I have talked to my neighbor who has the exact same car and she says hers does the same thing, so I figure its no big deal. I have 2k miles till my warranty is up.. If I hear other wise, I think I probably should go see my local Ford dealer. It would be piss me off highly if the transmission is going out.
