We checked that a number of times. removed, and reinstalled them at least twice, possibly 3 times. following the exact recomendations by crane. I am 99.9% sure that the rockers are installed correctly. My friend has built several 5.0 engines, and has done a number of sets of adjustable rockers. The first time we did it, he went by the way he knew how to do it. then the second time we looked at the instructions that crane sent, and they were exactly the same.
Lenny, I had similar trouble after doing my HCI swap. I too have studmount rockers w/AFR heads. I followed the instructions as well and the car would not fire. What I failed to do is preload the hydraulic lifters prior to adjusting the rockers which created too much pressure on the valvesprings and hence low compression. You can preload the lifters by removing the coil wire, removing the fuel pump fuse, putting the car in neutral and turning over the engine about 4 or 5 times via the starter. Good Luck.
Are you talking about priming the oiling system? We did that with a drill to pump up the lifters before we put the motor in the car. i think i'm just about out of options. It sounds like it has to be the rings, and is there anything that i can do about central coast sending me the shortblock like that?? because i'm sure there's no warranty.
a wet compression test is adding a few drops of oil in the spark plug hole and then doing a compression test adding a few drops of oil determines if the rings are bad if u get a good reading the rings are bad if u get a bad reading its not the rings more than likely its the valves
