I was looking at the roof of my car (2001 gt) tonight after i pulled into the gas station for a fill up and noticed that on the passenger side right above the rear quarter window there is a fair amount of rust visible. It is on the roof comming from under the trim piece that goes around the outside of the window. From what I can tell it is only on the passenger side...is this something I should be concerned about? or is it common for these cars to get rust here...any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks!!!

There is a problem there. I, as well, have never heard of a 99+ Mustang rusting.

Well i went to ford this morning and they took a look at the rust and said that it should not be doing this. They tested the paint to see if it had been repainted and when they found out it hadn't they told me that I would have to wait until monday when the body shop foreman was in so he could look at it, but it does seem like they are gonna fix this for me...we will see on monday.

i've gotta see if i can borrow someone's digital camera to take some pics of this...

mine is doing the same thing in the same place. I also have a friend with a new 04 mach I and his is doing it to. I had to have my bumper replaced and the body shop told me it was a common problem with ford in that spot. I need to go to the dealership to see if they will fix it, but I bet they will say hey your car is 5 years old to bad so sad, you know how dealerships try to get out of everything.

Wow thats kinda bizzare... take it to the dealer and make sure you tell them you checked with abunch of other Mustang owners before you brought it in so you know its not normal.

it isnt of my car but it will show you where I'm talking about. I put a brown line where I am seeing my rust and circled it in blue It also is looking like the driver's side might have a little bit developing also
