It’s hard to get into an IT job. I have a degree in Computer Information Technologies. All the jobs that I have went in for interviews said sorry you don't have enough experience. How am I supposed to get the stupid experience if I can't get hired in the field? So I just got a new job this week. I'm an aviation line service tech. The funny thing is one of my friends who doesn’t even have a college degree is making about 50,000 a year in a computer field and I have a degree and can’t get hired, it ticks me off. I just applied for another IT job right before I posted this.

Get with a contracting firm. Doing several 6 to 18 month contracts will build good experience. Plus the money is usally better for contract jobs. If you cn travel it is even better.

If you don't have any objections to learning about accounting/finance and traveling, you can make lots of money (~170K/yr) if you learn about a financial software called Hyperion. There is a HUGE HUGE demand for people that know this software and can implement it from an IT and finance perspective. There are a lot of consulting companies that provide implementation services that you could work with or you can work with Hyperion themselves. Hyperion pays the 170K per year for people that know all aspects of one of their products called Hyperion Financial Management (aka HFM). Check out hyperion.com and you'll see for yourself.
