It "ran" good, but just broke.

Ok I pulled my trans and clutch apart tonight.I didn't see any anything that was broken, bent or not where it was supposed to be. The only thing I noticed was that the cltuch disc seemed to be stuck to the pressure plate and that was it. I guess I'll find out more when I put the new clutch in tomorrow.
Edit: further inspection 2 springs fell out after I pulled the disc apart from the pressure plate.

ok its back together and seems to function as a clutch should ......HOWEVER... With 2 new cables and a new clutch set the pedal releases all the way at the top. I like that but only after the clutch has a few miles on it. Can I expect my cables to stretch some? or is there an adjustment on this somewhere that I missed?

ok so the 2 broken springs in the clutch disc would have been fixed by adjusting the pedal? Not sure how I follow that logic, but I'll try if you explain it slowly.
Stop buying autozone stuff? Thats interesting since I'm a manager there. Do you have any recommendations on a good parts store?

I ran 7.8 in the 1/8th behind a 351w with the stock replacement clutch for a 302 from autozone. They can't be that bad.

150 miles so far everythings good. chirps 4th pretty good too.

LOL got to love the dis'ing of an AutoZone Manager. We can turn this into a AutoZone Hate thread. Any Takers?

Ok I went into a local PsycoZone and was checking on the price of some items and well as you all know I should have bent over, slaped a combo of sand and vasaline on my behind because I was about to take it royally. After getting the qoute I asked him to call around and check the comparable price and he laughed. I called Orieliey's parts and Nappa the price was 15 dollars cheaper but a city away. He would not matche the price for me at all. I asked him why AZ was so high in price and he said plainly that they could be because well he is the manager and the city has no competition,,,,,,,,, I have news for him hmmmmmm I have been talking to a pal that is a manager for Orieliey's and there is a bran new Super Walmart and guess what a bran new Orieliey's opening at the same time. OMG some competition those prices may fall and my rear can finally be spared.

hey buddy lets move this over to my thread I think it fits there.

Anyway....We are about the cheapest in the area here and nobody will price match us. If I get beat I'll match any "reasonable" in stock item. I have friends at Federated and napa so I have no problems calling around. We have a walmart just a potato gunshot away....(ask me how I know that):rlaugh:

Generic stuff I go to vatozone for like supplies... but I won't trust em to give me a decent replacement part... I usually go to NAPA for stuff but they have been selling chinese trash lately so I have to open the boxes on the counter and check everything out. They tried to sell me a chinese clutch disk, maybe it would work "fine" but I'm not going to pay for foreign labor anyhow. So I left it there and I'll be using my old disk with the broken spring. For parts that absolutely HAVE to be good (like clutch cables) I go to the Ford parts counter. Like that short cable? It made more sense to buy ONE of them at Ford for 12 bucks, then to buy THREE autozone ones for 8 per.
