I posted this on another forum also, but tend to get more help on here..

Either someone put soap in my radiator or I blew another head gasket. I was running a safe tune, with afr monitored. Last time I blew the stock head gaskets on my E7's so this time I bought some ported gt40's had the valves redone and used them, with a Ford Racing graphite gasket. I checked the heads with a straight edge and used a scotch brite on the surfaces to remove the old crap. I also switched to ARP head bolts as well.
(I thought I heard GT40s are hard to keep headgaskets on..)

I am going to redo this, but if you have any tips on how I can keep this from happening again. I actually have a appt next Saturday to make sure my tune is still good.

Also would like to know which head gaskets you guys are using, I had ordered Cometics but didn’t want to pull the engine to have that special machining done.

WHo knows, maybe I had a faulty torque gauge.. It was made in china..

I replaced 4 sets in a month untill i learned the secret

Buy the cometic MLS gaskets....expensive but worth it.

Clean the heads and the block clean of old gasket and then 3m scotchbrite red the hell out of it so its real clean.....degrease with CARB cleaner....

take the autozone or whatever copper gasket spray and put a light coating on both sides....install with arp studs and torque top to 95 ftbp, bottoms to 90.

This setup wont leak unless you have a warped head, and on my car with detonation prone gt40p's I actually had a bad run of gas and got ALOT of knock and they survived fine....the 9333-pt1's would blow with no knock at all.
The guy who did my tune, DEZ racing says he uses the same setup and he says if he lifts the head during a run, they will actually re-seal again!...he has I think an 8second car

I went with the Cometic gaskets and ARP studs when I put on my H/C/I, and Vortech. I didn't have anything special done to my block either, I just cleaned the surfaces very well, and made sure nothing was warped. It has been 2 years so far and I have never had a problem.

cometics FTW!!!

put them on when i did the stroker. haven't had a problem since. i had a horrible tune with a bunch of problems and have still held tight. also, head studs are better than bolts.

Where is a good place to get them (Cometics)? Last time I had to wait a month to get them.. Summit shows about 110 different head gaskets for our cars, there are some MLS ones on there, I wonder if those are good.. I have a tuning appt for next saturday and want it back together by then..

It's not my auction. I just did a search for "cometic head gasket 302".

I just found them at Holcomb motorsports and also ordered the arp head studs (I went with the bolts last time )

They were $79 for each..
