In your sister. If none, your mom
Well we finally started the engine around 6pm today. But just before, while I was alone and putting coolant in the rad, I notice a small puddle of coolant just under the thermostat. :nonono: That pissed me off big time that it was already leaking and the engine wasnt even started yet. First I thought it was my brother-in-law's fault, cause he'S the one who installed that particular part. So I call him before he gets here so he can bring another gasket. We installed the new gasket, screw the 2 screws and the same chit starts happening...Its leaking between the housing and the gasket so 99% sure that my thermostat housing isnt "straight" anymore, sitting on the brand new lower intake. So I gotta call Ford tomorrow to see how much it costs for a new one. If it's not too expensive, I'll buy one. If not, we'll fix it with gasket maker or silicone or whatever.

So we started the engine anyway with that small leak. So it turns for like 3 seconds and starts right away :D Then the first thing I hear is "Shut it down! Shut it down ! Gas is splashing everywhere !" I thought right away it was an injector. I remember one beeing kind "hard" to fit in the fuel rail. Turns out it was the STOCK regulator that was missing an Oring or something. I put a one in and everything was ok after that.

We broke the cam in for 2 rounds of about 20minutes at 2300rpm constantly. Car sounds pretty good. Its not the best sounding mustang out there, but you can definately tell that there's a cam in there. I like it. My EEC Tuner works also cause the temperature never got over 195* and the idle was at 850rpm, right where I set it. Now I need a laptop to start playing with the EEC or something. (or a bigass extension that goes from my car to inside the computer in the car.

I didnt drive the car. I didnt torque my new wheels yet. I dont wanna lose one. That already happened with my old Tbird. But I tried the new Spec Stage2 clutch and OMG, this MOFO grabs a lot. I mean when you let the clutch go, once it grabs, it really pushes you fast. I even stalled trying to go in reverse. So surprised how the clutch was grabbing. I never had a brand new clutch before with a new flywheel. It will be prettty fun.

Cant wait to drive it. Not sure when. I'd like to fix the thermostat first.

Eh Mike, you'll hear it on Friday. :nice:

Alright!!!
I'm so glad to head that things went smoothly mario. Dont worry, i've heard worse horror stories about engine rebulids, ect so your doing very well in my opinion. Apparantly you are at your gf's house tonight, i'll give you a call tomorrow (wensday). Congrats once again Mario!! :nice:

oh....did your engine shoot any codes? i'm bringing back your code reader anyways..

NICE, hey stangfreak let me know when it's ready for a photo shoot :D While I still have a 40 MPG car I can drive to your area to take pics one weekend!

Thanks guys ! I'm pretty excited to hear it running. Even with the tuner, it stills wanna die idling. Cant imagine how it would run with the stock computer in there. Thats why I need a laptop right now. If somebody knows how I could get one really really cheap, let me know. I just want the minimum. That would be really appreciate. I'd like to do more stuff right now with the tuner ( like raise the idle to 900rpm for example)but the EEC is in the car and I dont have extension cables to connect to my home computer.

Hook me up with a laptop and I'll LET you win a race against me. :D

I hope I did a good choice of keeping it...one more summer at least. We'll see if I'm happy with the results.

I THINK it was the clutch grabbing a lot. I just got a bad feeling about something relating with the clutch system. I'll know once I drive the car. Maybe my stock clutch quadrant is damaged or my clutch cable. I was gonna buy a new quadrant anyway, with firewall adjuster.

*Spence*
I dont think I could handle you projects. They're too wild ! But we still could line-up though..:D

*Mike*
I bet you cant wait to hear my car run :D Friday...if you're still planning to go there. I'm home right now so you can call me anytime. I dont know about the codes man, you have my decoder :bang: J/K I'm pretty sure there's something about the airbags. The stupid light is always there.

*boss*
You got to give me a few weeks to finish the car up. I still got guages to plug, 1 or 2 problems here and there. I want to have the car run ok. I have to installed that 150shot also. :owned:

I tried to patch up that thermostat leak so I'll see tomorrow if my repair worked or not. And I gotta make some kind of air intake tube so I can fit my bigass air filter. Right now, if I want to close the hood, I have to almost unplugged my tube and turn it upside down. I have not heard my car run with the HOOD CLOSED yet. :nonono: Cant wait. And the hood still hits it. More grinding to do on the brake callipers also. Once very tight, they still rub so I got to take care of this tomorrow.

I'm gonna win!!!

I can hook you up with a cheap laptop. But think about it this way. You won't exactly be needing to tune the car on the fly 24/7. At least in the short term, I can have my laptop ready to screw around with, and we can set up stuff on your car.

Here's the latest pic of my engine up and running. No more thermostat leak :nice:...well not so far.
