Im finaly getting money together to rebuild my motor. I have 2 short block 1 out of a stock 88 stand and the other out of a 90 lincon town car. Im just going to use one of the blocks and the crank out of my old motor or the 88 not sure which is in better condition. My question is that I need pistons, rings, rods.... Its just going to be a 306 with the heads, intake ect in the sig along with the nitrous. I wanted to know what type of pistons rods ect to ya'll suggest? Any packages on the net of companies ya'll know of. Let me what ya'll think.

I'd like to help you out man but my long block is all stock so I have no real experience with what parts are good quality and which one's aren't.

TTT for the man's almost-ready engine build.

Keith Kraft and DSS have nice kits you can buy. I bought a Keith Kraft 306 kit a few years and it was a quality kit, plus they had great customer service. When the kit arrived a couple piston were scratchec preety bad, not sure from what(shipping or what ever), but called them and they told me to send it back. When they recieved & inspected it tey sent me out another set without any hassle. The kit cam with crank, rods, pistons(forged), rings, main & rod bearing. Plus it was all balanced with a sheet with all the weights. Back then they used recondition stock rods and now I think their kits come with eagle SIR rods...

Check out PAW kits too, I read good stuff about them.

For the rods:
Blue Thunder or Crower Sportsmans ... These withstand 7000rpm
H-Beam rods for 8000rpm with heated demands

For the pistons:
If your on a budget then your gonna go with either cast or hypereutectic. Cast pistons will take more abuse than they get credit for, they can withstand 6000rpm rev. Hypereutectic pistons are silicon-impregnated cast units that are stronger and can stand more abuse than cast pistons.
If money is no problem than forged pistons is an awesome consideration. You said your were gonna use nitrous and if you follow through than forged pistons are a MUST.

If you change your mind about the crank (which isnt bad to use the stock crank since they CAN stand 8000rpms). Get steel billet, they are severe-duty.

IMO, building a healthy, strong bottom end will serve you great for any mods you do on the top end.
