I've been researching rack & pinion

I am not going to whip a dead horse hear, don't get the wrong idea.

I understand all but TCP use a government motors 5.5" stroke rack. TCP has the right 6.375" stroke to attain full factory wheel cut. From what I am picking up, the gm racks add about 6' to the turning radius of these cars.

My issue is this - I want to convert to r&p, I have never driven my 66, I bought it in pieces. Am I really going to be that affected by the increased turning radius? I am really having a hard time swallowing the extra $1k to buy the TCP setup.

Thanks for your opinions

Dead Horse indeed.....
I would not want to loose the turning radius on my car but plenty here will agrue that they dont miss it. So in the end its up to you but there is another option which retains all of your stock suspension and steering components. You only replace the gearbox to Borgeson's unit and run hoses to it. Either way continue to research what you buy as steering is kinda important.
I am a Borgeson user and I approve this message.

I got the Unisteer manual from Summit for about $775 shipped. It comes really close to hitting the bump stops and I dont think I lost any real radius.
