The box was unmarked except for the scan label and the JEG'S part number. The gears were completely unmarked also. Since I wanted 3.89's, I know they are not FRPP.
The gears had a lot of striations on the teeth and appeared very rough. The instructions were as expected with center contact desired on both sides of the tooth. However, after many tries, we were unable to achieve the recommended contact. We settled for a center contact patch on the drive side and toe contact on the coast side. The gears did not whine they GROWLED.
Spent some time on the net and found a Richmond instruction that covered the pattern that we had. That instruction said to move the pinion closer to the ring. We did that and, again after many tries, got the Richmond suggested pattern that was drive and coast both toward the toe end. The gears are MUCH quieter but still make some noise.
Bottom line, I would not recommend the JEG'S gears to anyone.
The JEG'S people did confirm that the gears are Richmond. They were not aware that their instructions did not match Richmonds procedure.
They also offered to exchange the JEG'S gears for any other manufacturers gears. Not many places would even consider that. Now I have to decide whether I want to do the job a third time.
I haven't heard anything negitive about richmond gears, there used alot in the off/road world. A couple of my buddies have them in thier jeeps and trucks with no complaints.

Since doing this job several people have told me that Richmond gears were noiser than Motive or FRPP. Mine are noisy!
The biggest problem with this job was the package enclosed instruction for the desired contact pattern was not for these gears. The instructions called for a centered contact on both sides of the teeth - which we could not get. As shown below, the desired contact pattern for these gears is different.
