The funny thing is that he is a veteran, but only when it seems convienant to his argument.

I'm not going to straight out defend him, as I was saying this morning that he should keep a 3rd shoe on hand at all times so he can conveniently stick it in his mouth when he feels the need. I really do believe, though, that he did make a poor attempt at telling a joke and just told it wrong. He's a bit of a bafoon with that sorta thing. Sorry, but he's an educated man that served in Vietnam, it sounds more like Karl Rove spinning this thing real well and getting everyone wrapped up real well in his web. As for those soldiers holding up that banner, yeah, it's funny, but let's check the sense of humor of anyone that's been mamed over there. I better stop, the whole Iraq thing ticks me off.

No doubt he is a smart man, and nothing is funny about last month being the deadliest of the war for US soldiers. You just have to wonder what exactly he meant by what he said, course I was not there so who knows how and what he said and how it has been spun to the American public

After this post I will never again speak on the subject. I have avoided any thing political in any forum since I joined StangNet. But I will draw the line here. It makes sick to my stomach when some one makes fun of our troops. I take that as a personal insult. I come from a long line of military men and I am proud of that. I want you to under stand when some pansy like John Kerry runs his mouth like that he is a disgrace to the military. I don’t care if he was injured, he has forgotten what is means to server your country. As far as Kerry being educated, he sure does like to say stupid things. As stated I will not post in here again, I will not get in an augment on StangNet.

Oh, it's been spun. There's no way he meant it the way it was said, he was in front a group of college students and was in the moment. But he's got a history of saying STUPID things, and that's what cost him the '04 election.

85Ragtop, it sounds like you've been sucked right into the political spin on this thing just like Karl and the right wingers want you to. I never got for a moment that he was making fun of the troops. Just deal with the fact that the guy bungled and shouldn't be telling jokes because, well, he's lousy at doing it. I'm a lousy joke teller, so I don't tell them. Be very wary of the people in power, this is the exact sort of reaction they want from people. Sorry to get political here, but I fear for the good ol' U.S. of A.

I must admit I agree I worry for this country as well. I thank you for not tearing into me as so many do. I feel the way I do for a reason as do you. I do not expect any one to agree with me. And to end on a good note I do respect your opinion, and advice, weather it be on this or Mustangs.

can I getta hell yeah?
I fear for the country as well, makes me want to not have children and bring them into this crap world and depressing situation.

I cannot wait till these elections are over next week, the worst thing is....I dont even know who to vote for will all the slandering and what not. The local and state elections are full of crooks and shady mofo's in this area, it forces to vote for the lesser of 2 evils unless you are a hoardcore party lline voter who will vote for the guy runnig for his party no matter what.

Which brings me onto my next beef with our country. Its always talked about winning the most seats in the Senate or Congress so one party or the other can push and pass there agenda.......WTF happend to representing the people, its all about you political affiliation. You no longer have to have any backbone or values. As long as you go left or right you are labled and thats how you will vote.

From yahoo......

Two days ago, Kerry stirred controversy when he told a group of California students that individuals who don't study hard and do their homework would likely "get stuck in Iraq." Aides said the senator had mistakenly dropped one word from his prepared remarks, which was originally written to say "you end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq." In that context, they said, it was clear Kerry was referring to Bush, not to the troops.

Vote for Lurch!

I couldn't give a crap what he said, one way or the other. I don't vote for any of these douchebags that they put on the ballot, because they're all part of the same rich-boy snob society - Democrat, Republican, or so-called "Independent," they're all one and the same. All they do is spout a bunch of mindless, watered-down rhetoric and make a living through yammering on and on about next to nothing. Any time someone makes an off-color statement of one thing or another - or even if they don't, and it's just something taken out of context - then they're raked over the coals by a bunch of other douchebags that then, themselves, engage in making a bunch of off-color statements and more yammering about nothing.

I'm not defending or ragging on Kerry. All I'm saying is, frankly, I don't give a crap one way or the other about him, or anyone else in D.C., for that matter. They're all about as crazy and idiotic as that Shirley what's-her-face that goes around protesting soldiers' funerals and stuff ... they've just got a more publicly palatable way of spouting the same brand of nonsense, which is why they get elected to office. (Well, that and the fact that most of 'em have virtually limitless funding to buy their way into office, too...)

When people mis-speak, they usually say exactly what's on their mind -- it's called a "Freudian slip". And it's certainly no secret that John Scary... er... Kerry has been anti-military since he got back from his 4-month, 12-day combat tour of Vietnam.

The key point in this little incident is Kerry's refusal to simply accept responsibility for his careless remarks and apologize to the millions of people offended by them. Instead, we get the typical, 4-step, Democrat response (the same one used by Clinton EVERY time he was involved in a scandal): 1. Deny the incident; 2. Blame others ("My words were misinterpreted."); 3. Blame the incident on a "vast right-wing conspiracy"; 4. Deflect attention by saying, "We need to move on to more important issues."

I agree, we DO need to move on to more important issues. Like, why are we still trying to police the world and throw ourselves into every little squabble when there's a LOT more serious problems being neglected here on our own turf? I see that now we're even trying to get involved in Fiji's little military-versus-civillian spat ... WHO CARES? Funk Fiji. What'd they ever give us? What do we owe them? What could they ever do for us in return? How would their crappy situation ever effect us?

Again, Democrats, Republicans ... phooey. They're all tools.

I'm not voting for any of 'em until they start promising free brand-new Mustang GT's for everyone.
