Jump started another car..now @#*$!!!

Just jump-started my neighbor's car, and right afterwards.. my car starts idling funny. I press on the gas a few times.. doesnt help. I turn off the car and turn it back on.. still bogging and seems like its going to shut off! WTH happend??

someone please help!, I'm a total newbie to troubleshooting. My car is an 00 and Ive never replaced the IAC, but my car was running pretty smooth before the jump start.

Wow. Never heard of that before. Maybe go out and unhook the battery on your car for an hour or so and then try it again after that. Maybe your computer needs to be kinda reset.

thanks for replying. now the car doesnt even turn on anymore. can you tell me how to unhook the battery and reset the computer? I've been using the search, but no luck. Thanks.

Just disconnect the negative battery terminal using a 10mm socket. Leave it off for some time. There may be an issue with your alternator being burned up and shorting out now.

Yep. loosen the bolt on your negative terminal and remove it from the the post.

Go inside the car and turn on the headlights.

Put the key in the ignition and turn, as though you're trying to start.

Turn off the lamps and remove the key.

Let simmer on low for 10 minutes, and serve warm... OOPS!

Refasten your negative terminal and let her run at idle for about 5 minutes. Then go around the block!
