forgive me if i am asking a question that has already been answered.

i have an 06 gt convertible. when it hits bumps in the road, especially on a turn it feels like its jumping up in the air. what has been the aftermarket fix? strut tower brace? sway bars?

I know what your talking about and I have almost been in a couple of accidents because of it. While cornering at high speeds if there is a bump in the road you are basicly screwed in this car...it will get sideways. I need to fix this problem aswell.

that's because it's a live axle car. get used to it lol

what in the hell would make you think a strut tower brace would fix it?????????

Rodeoflyer is correct. Because of the live axel, once your traction gets upset by a bump, pothole or other deformity on the road, the whole rear end loses traction. You'll have to deal with it. To cure the problem would be to convert to independent rear suspension. But that will take some serious coin.

the jumpin felt like it was coming from the back end. some one mentioned that they put a strut tower brace on and it helped. i think that was probably wishful thinking so i figured i would ask. like i sai i have the convertible and if they said that it took away some of the flex up front i would be more inclined to believe them. i hear what you say about the live axle. i guess it does not help the jumpin to have all the weight up front and none in the back. ive been driving pickups my whole life so that was a new experience when i hit a series of bumps on an exit ramp.

so i guess its an assumption that there is nothing to help this problem other than driving skills????

You could try Lower Rear Control arms, Lower Rear Control Arms, and an Adjustable Panhard Bar to stiffen up the rear suspension. I don't know if it would help, but somebody else might be able to chime in.

Those are good things to do They won't help much with how the rear likes to kick but it will help immensely in recovering from such kicks.

It's just the nature of the beast. I've been tweaking suspensions on FOX bodies for a long while and now these new ones. They seem very difficult to get the rear end to be compliant over the rough stuff, yet sporty.

I can tell ya though, I will be up near the front of the line if Maximum Motorsports ever offers an IRS for these cars.
