OK, after some looking and much modifiting, I have a rack and pinion on my 66. More on the conversion after testing. Just a quick overview, I kept the rear steer, converted my column with a roller bearing on lower end where I cut off the steering box, use 2 u-joints and a short connecting shaft (8" or so). Seems like it is going to be a good conversion. Crossmember replaces the original front bolt-in crossmember with 2 additional holes drilled. My question is, normally, is the large or small port on the rack and pinion unit usually the pressure side. I didn't take pics and cannot remember.

Thanks

Sounds like you're off to a good start. Sorry I can't answer your question though.

The pressure line is the smaller of the two.

For the same flow rate if you reduce the diameter, you increase the pressure. It's the inverse if you increase the diameter.

Please take pictures of what you have done. It's interesting. And good luck with the rest of the build.

We have many threads on this subject.

I did this back in 1999 on Chepie with a Taurus rack. It was in Mustang Illustrated. Who's rack did you use?
