Junkyard rear disc brake conversions???

Does anyone know of any junyard disc brake conversions for an 8" rear end? Something like the granada swap but for the rear? I know that you can buy kits but I didnt want to spend $600-$800 for rear brakes. If it helps the car is a 67 mustang coupe. Thanks, mike.

I have decided not to use one of my Verailles rears and I am going to use the calipers/rotors from an 84 SVO Mustang on brackets I am building myself. The same calipers came on 84-6 SVOs and mid to late 80s Lincoln Mk VIIs. There are even some brackets for these available from Ultrastang....do a google, I'm tired.

Thanks guys, thats just what I was looking for. I have anohter question, do I need the dust shields behind the rotors?

Yes if you desire them. The dust shields, main mounting bracket and emergency brake cable clip are mandatory salvage yard items.

I know that the dust shields are salvage yard items, but my question is are they mandatory? Everyone says that you need them...why?

You mean I really need the dust shields and e-brake clip? Those were the only two items the guys at the junkyard didn't include from my list.

Do you think I can fab those items?

Fabbing them can be done but a little tough. They (Shields) are not mandatory as much as they are preventative. You don't want cold water splashing up on a warm / hot disk. The em clip is some tough metal but can be made if the material is handy. I think I might have an extra set of em clips. Shoot me your email.
