im doing my first 5.0 swap into a 2.3 lx body, and i want to know if i can use my 2.3 tranny on the motor, even tho the clutches are different sizes, the gt tranny has a 10.5 inch clutch and my 2.3 has a 8 inch clutch, and can i put a 10.5 inch clutch on that tranny. and one more question, are the trannys the same?

dont be bringing your questions from the dark side onto our board

haha just kidding. But no the tranny's aren't the same. Im sure you could bolt the bigger clutch and flywheel setup up to the 4banger tranny but that tranny wont survive very long.

On a side note, there is this awesome little motor swap, where you make as much power as a stock 302, and can use your 4 banger tranny and its tooooons easier. 2.3T

you really should refer to the 5.0 board for these questions. Think about it... if you had a 2.3 and put in a 5.0, why would you stay in the 2.3 forum?
you need to use a 5.0 clutch.
The T5 is different as well. It has a much much taller 1st gear and is pretty much worthless on a v8. It also has a smaller input shaft. You can get some sort of addapter thing, but seriously, just get a v8 tranny.

Tranny

Yeah, that transmission will work. But only if you use water instead of transmission fluid!
