Yes.

Also, I would try to keep any modifications that would work on the Mach 1.

Tough call man the miles are a little high but for most enthusiasts having a low production trim line preferably 4V is critical to long term enjoyment and holds its value better. So I agree with transitioning from a common GT to something rarer. It might be better to shop around more for lower miles though.

I agee with Steeda. I'd spend the 2k on making my GT faster.

Unless its a Azure Blue or a Comp Orange (if they made those in 04's) then no I wouldn't. BTW what is the prices you were looking at? There is a pretty sweet looking Mach near me that I would love to go check out if you are really interested. The price on it made me question buying my cobra or that car.

They are asking 10.5 for it. I know I can talk them down to around 9 or lower.

.....and its a TR car.

5sp car? Any mods you can see done to it? Will it be a daily?

If it isn't a daily, and is a 5spd car I would do it.

Yeah, I would trade a stock gt w/ 80k for a mach 1 w/ 120k, as long as it was taken care of and a 5 speed.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Everyone's got a GT, but Mach 1's are getting rarer and rarer. Even with all your mods, that Mach 1 is probably still more than a match for your car and damn if that shaker hood scoop and 4V exhaust note isn't sooooo sexy. The only thing that would deter me from a trade like that is if the car was hit hard at some point, or sporting an automatic transmission.

I'd change it up if it's a 5 speed. 5 speed 4V Mach 1's rev to 7,000 and they sound sick as frack and pull very nicely up top.

IMHO, it really depends on the Mach 1. I would not trade in an 80,000 mile car for one with 120,000 miles on general principle - the additional mileage means I'd be buying into worn out shocks & struts, bushings, bearings, water pump, alternator, AC compressor, power steering pump, brakes, rear end, etc., etc., etc. People almost never fix cars before selling them.

That said, your current car will need those items replaced in the future as well. If a significant number of those parts have been replaced on the Mach 1, the exterior and interior are clean and it drives tight and smooth and runs perfect, it's not that big a deal. You will spend more maintenance money over the next 40,000 miles on the 120,000 mile Mach 1 than on the 80,000 mile GT, but you're getting more car for your money as well. I cannot envision a scenario where you could get into a Mach 1 WITHOUT spending more money, IOW.

I would NOT trade a clean 80K mile GT for a rough, high-mileage Mach 1 just to have a Mach 1. I'd rather have a nice car than a beat-up rattle-trap regardless of the badge or day-dream potential.

Fully aware. I didn't say it was beat-up, either.
