Okay so Nate got me all fired up about the stock block turbo build so today Jeff and I tore down my engine. The reason I decided to tear it down is because last year when I had my nitrous backfire it did very bad things to the engine. Like bent the hardened pushrods and messed up my cam.
I still have the original autotrader add that reads RHO block, 306 etc. Well... not sure what is so special about a RHO block but I think they were 306 from Ford. The pistons were standard size and so were the cyl. bores. So all this time I thought I had a 306 but did not. So now I don't even think its a RHO block. I guess you really don't know what you are going to get when you buy a used car. Still happy with the car, no biggy, build it better.
Good new is that it does have o-ringed heads, arp studs etc. The x-303 cam is toast. Can you say valve float anyone? I have heard the f cam is good for a turbo motor.
So the block is off to be hot tanked and magnafluxed. If it all checks out I will have 0.30 slugs slapped in and see what happens with a 70mm turbo behind it.
