Whats up, I just bought a black 02 GT and i love it. Ive already had it up to 135. After driving it a few days and having a camaro SS put me to shame, I all of the sudden want to do some modds. I know the basic concept of turbos, superchargers, and chips. But how can i get the most bang for the buck. Maybe just change two or three things that will give me decent gains. So im at 260 hp now. How can i get to around 320 hp with around $2500. Or just tell me flat out whats the biggest bang for my buck. And no, i dont want anything thats not safe like a supercharger, and dont really want nitrous either. I would like to hear your opinions.

4.10 gears, catback exhaust, midpipe (exhaust), timing adjuster, CAI, upper intake plenum/tb, etc.

Congrats

nitrous and superchargers are safe if you have the car tuned for it .

Welcome to stangnet.. you will learn a lot here.. I know I did...

always ask before purchasing anything... so you won't regret it later..

I would start off with the exhaust to make your car stand out.. then do the gears

How much hp can i get out of a chip and a new exhaust? And what is a midpipe, a muffler or a whole exhaust system? What else can i put on besides a supercharger or nos(definately not doing either to my baby)

you remind me of me 8 months ago man

the exhaust comes in 3 parts (in order): the exhaust manifold, the mid-pipe (X or H pipe according to the shape), and the cat-back (this is where your muffler located).

As you surf this forums, you will find that there are many "bolts-on" mod that you can do to your GT. This includes the exhaust, intake system, pullies, etc..

Why don't you want to make your car sound good? I know I do... ^^

4.10's are lower gears and will help you shift quicker and make your car faster. I do not have these on yet,but will be getting them soon

However get a h pipe/ or x pipe( mac, dr gas, bassani) The i would go with mufflers( borla, magnaflow, flowmaster) I would have to go with a steeda triax shifter, because the shifer on the stang is so stiff. Cold ait intakes dont hurt either and will suck more air into your car and with work well with the h pipe and mufflers.4.10 gears or 3.73 gears will help alot and underdrive pullies will as well. You can also put headers on your car and that will help as well and finally a chip to tune your car.

congrats on your purchase, these cars are a blast. i got shut down by a firehawk my first week of owning this car, & have been modding it non-stop since. still don't think i could beat him, but it's fun to mess around with your own car & if u hang out much here, u will learn alot. happy modding.

If you want horsepower, then get the blower and be done with it.

For some first mods go with the Pulleys and Timing Adjuster.

But of course.. get an Exhaust system first, including a mid pipe.

so
Pulleys/Timing Adjuster (cheap)
Catback exhaust
pro kit or any other lowering device to stop the 4x4 look
Gears

2002 eh?

Hey thespace_ghost, nice purchase! How much did you get the 02 for, what is the paint and interior condition, and how many miles did it have? I'm curious due to wanting to possibly wanting to sell my GT soon.

don't forget suspension, everyone always says supercharge it, I would be so pissed if I had 360+ to the ground and only pulled a 13.2 Some of the NA guys are pulling 12's due to suspension work
