just did 3g upgrade now I have no juice(from the battery)?

ok, I just finished up my 3g upgrade and when I put the battery back in the car(I removed the battery instead of just removing the ground for fear of bumping it and sparking it) and I have absolutely nothing. no alarm, dome light, nothing. the battery had some juice in it when I removed it because I still had to disarm the alarm. however when I put it back in it's like it is completely dead. I put a battery charger on it and nothing. according to my charger it does have some juice but again I don't even have a dome light which usually still comes on if my battery is 99.9% dead. I even tried another battery and had the same results.

I'm going to run to somewhere(Autozone, etc.) later today and pick up a new + battery cable and a new battery but before I go does anyone have any idea of what could be going on here? if by chance my solenoid went bad could this cause this? any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

thank you in advance.

It's likely a bad connection.
Go back over all the battery and the battery-side solenoid connnections. Loosen them and wiggle them if you still have nothing.

It's not your solenoid and with a battery charger on the battery, it should not be the battery.

Good luck.

ok, I replaced the + cable with a new one. I also replaced the - clamp with a new one. I also cleaned the wires(for the neg) before I put the new one on. I cleaned the battery posts as well. I still have absolutely nothing. the connections on both the battery as well as the solenoid are tight so I have no idea what is going on here. I guess my batery could be 100% dead but I still don't get even a dome light even if I run my batt. charger at a 200Amp start.

I am not trying to be a smartie, but here is my suggestions to check.

Did you run a hot wire from the bolt on the back of the alternator to the starter on the fender?

Do you have the stator wire (black/white) attached to the alternator from the factory wiring?

Did you plug the one stock plug into the alternator? There are two stock plugs; one you use still and the other one with the orange/black and the white/black that you do not use. Except the stator wire.

Is there a fuse on your power wire or maybe have not put one in the holder?

Again, I am only trying to help. Please take my suggestions in that manner. Let us know what you find.

I figured it out. whoever owned the car before us had all the wiring on the solenoid wrong. the starter wire was on the post closest to the firewall and the battery cable was on the other. all of those other plugs were just stuck on both. I found a digram here for the correct way to have them. 5min. later it started right up after I connected everything the right way. the strange thing is the car has been like this for over 10yrs. and today was the first time this issue came about.

thanks for all your help everyone. I really appreciate it.

Glad you got it figured out. It does seem strange that just changing to a 3g would have that affect. Probably something to do with the one stock plug not being used and not completing a circuit.

Anyone else have a theory on this?

I didn't use the black/orange wires. I just used the white wire for the stator connector and a 4g wire to the solenoid. new grounds are next. it just had me floored since I didn't do anything extra and it didn't work.

The lack of 10 AWG feed wires will not affect performance. The sense wire, which taps into the feed wires, can be affected. Either leaving the OEM feed connected at the solenoid or running a new sense-wire are common options.
