What I did was drive it slow a little and once it warmed up i did some 3rd and 4th gear pulls and some decells. I only have about 15 mins on it. I stopped because it was puring black smoke. I overfilled my power steering anyway right now my fuel pressure is set to 39 with the vacuum line connected at idle and while i drive the check engine light will come on, stay on for a few seconds then go off. It flashes off and on while driving. Also there is a very slgiht smell of gas in my oil but not much. Is it ok to go drive again tonight? i have an ed c cam with a .605 lift. Thanks alot guys

pull codes and repost results did you replace o2 sensors and is maf connected and installed properly?

i have not but yes the maf is put in correct. Now that I think about it it was only at around 3500 on load when it would do it then it would go off after i slowed it back down

good luck man, i'll fire my 331 up on sunday or monday.

It should be about 110* outside that day too, the DCC unit and the Lincoln fan is sittin in the garage...

Tell us when you find out what it is! And let me know how it feels compared to the 302!

my 302 did the same thing and it turned out to be bad o2 sensors..but the codes will tell you or you can test the o2's with a digital voltmeter a chilton manual will tell you how...

I think your fuel pressure is probably too high. Pull off the vacuum line and set it somewhere between 39 and 45 and go from there.

thanks guys. I just got another 15 miles on it and my oil line to my guage is leaking now and causing tons of smoke so I had to stop driving it. I changed my oil again before the drive and there is still a faint smell of gas from the dipstick. I think there is way to much fuel with the 30lb injectors. I set the fuel pressure to 40 with the vacuum line off. So you think i'm fine or did I just throw all this money out the window?
