I just got me for free a 1998 mustang GT, its automatic and all stock. I have read about changing to PI heads and cams and manifold, has anyone done that and if so how much did it help? is it wirth putitng PI stuff on there or should i save up more and put like patriot heads and comp cams then do a port and polish job and use a bullet intake? i know thats alot of money. pretty much what i am asking is what do i need to do to make this car run better than what it does right now. I am going to turn this into a dragstrip only car so emmisions and inspections dont bother me.
i apprecaite any help...thanks

You could do the PI parts swap alone and acquire around 30-40 more HP, but if you're looking to turn it into a drag car and considering the higher dollar heads/cams and bullet intake, then save the money from buying the PI parts and go directly into buying the other parts you wish to have. Just don't forget, if you're using parts designed for PI motors, you'll need to remember, you'll end up with higher compression ratios which could be an advantage using the PI-related bolt ons.

As for the engine, since emissions is a non-issue you can do anything that will make more power. How crazy are you willing to get? There are many possibilities. From swaping a 5.0/5.8/460 into it to puttgin a DOHC in it. It's all possible. What is your goal? What do you want to run for an engine. Do you care if it's a Windsor pushrod V8 or do you want it to be a Mod motor?
