I just got a 2.3 na 87 5 speed man what a dog or is it I have played with it all weekend. I found a cool air intake (honda) from auto zone.I cut the cats off and jacked with the timing.Tuned on the fuel.Took it out an drove the piss out of.These was going to be a 302 swap but after what little I have done I may leave the 2.3 for the fun of it.It was just a blast to drive rev high.I like it !Maybe a tubo swap may just keep it and play with it like it is 100 shot of nos.I just want to tell u all that because I have been on here before about 5.0 never posted thanking why would a person waste there time on a 2.3.I have seen the light. 2.3 is a tough little motor I tryed to blow it up and it just goes HAHA.

Seeing as how you cut your cats off, 5 speed, etc., you probably have one of the faster N/A cars on the forum.
Enjoy the chaos that is the 2.3 forum, just this evening I witnessed the mental breakdown of a 5.0 forum guy on another thread.

All of your comments about the 2.3 n/a's are correct:

1) It's a dog.
2) It's fun to rev high. (I love the sound it makes too)
3) It's a tough motor.

My old '90 was wasn't too bad through the first 3 gears, after that it felt really slow.

Turbo swaps are great. Without changing a thing on an 87-88 TC motor, you will hang with 5.0s. Do the exhaust, get an IC, and bump the boost, and you should be hanging with 99+ GT's. Add a 100 shot on top of that, and you will be eating cobras.

It is a fun little motor n/a...it just takes a lickin and keeps on ticken! somedays i miss my 2.3n/a...those were back in the days where everyone seemed to want to race me

I am new to the 2.3 but not new to making stuff go fast. I feel the more I search that everyone wants to turbo why? There has not been a thread about a high compress lot of N.O.S. It is looking to me that I am the one to do this. Hell I was coming to spend around 5000.00 on the 351 for the swap may
as well drop into a 2.3 and see what I get.

I have run a 75 shot and 9lbs of boost seperatly at different times on my engine. I can tell you, that even at 9psi, the turbo is MUCH stronger than the shot of nitrous. The real fun of a turbo is hearing the whine, and never having to fill or open the bottle. If a ricer is giving you some crap, you just spool it a little in whatever gear you are in, and let the BOV do the rest. They will crap their pants.
There have been people to take a low CR turbo block and send a 200+ shot through them. Sure, you can do that, but your bottle is going to get empty really fast, and it won't be half as much fun on the street as having power on at the call of your foot.

Iam in the process of trying to get a na 2.3 supercharged.....if someone does it before me tell me how it went.
