Just got a call from Ford

I absolutely dont get this... Ford workers installed Ford parts in a Ford mustang at a Ford dealership.

they wont warranty the parts. WTF?

it seems to me that dealers could make a killing installing aftermarket performance parts.

If I knew My dealership would install a ford racing super charger in my car when I bought it 7 years ago. and warranty it. I would have done it when I bought the car.

your story makes me so mad.

I had an axle seal leaking all over my driver side wheel and they blamed it on my aftermarket springs putting too much pressure on the seal and causing it to leak.. The seal had been leaking for awhile and I had just installed my FRPP C springs and Bilstein shocks two days prior.

Then they told me that the rear-end wasn't covered by the powertrain warranty even though it was specifically printed in the warranty coverage booklet I had in my glove box.

THEN they wouldn't warranty the car because I bought it in Canada when I lived there and I moved the car down with me. They said I had to have the car registered in Canada to get my 5 year powertrain warranty. (which comes standard in Canada BTW.. )

I even called up ford and they said that if I had my original Saskatchewan registration then they would cover it.. The dealership still refused and the process dragged on for months.. I eventually bought the $30 kit when I installed the cobra rear brake kit and I learned how to do an axle seal and bearing in the process..

Funny thing is they wouldn't fix my seal, but when they had the car they found tons of other things that "needed" to be fixed like my A/C pump, which works fine.

AND THEN when I went to take my car from them they had the nerve to try and charge me $95 to "look at" the problem because it wasn't covered under warranty..

FRPP parts have no warrenty. it says so on their webpage and in the catalog. they are guaranteed to fit, that is it. although they are made by ford, they are considered a race part, and not covered as if it was a ford service part. same would hold true if you bought a 3.73 gearset from a 8.8 in a F150.

that is true i know they do not warranty those parts but if the mechanic that installed them did it wrong and caused the problem they "Should" take care of the problem. But we all know that a what a dealer "should do" is not likely to actually happen.

Sorry to hear that, one would think that paying the extra coin to have Ford techs do the install would:

-guarantee the job was done correctly
-make Ford more likely to stand behind the work (although it is correct that FRPP parts have NO warranty)

The dealer said they would warranty the work, meaning their work they did on the gear install(I.E if they installed them wrong, etc), not FoMoCo warrantying it. FRPP parts are not factory parts, but an aftermarket part and that is probably why they don't warranty them.
