Man, that is a lot of fun; I can see how this could get addictive! :D Anyway, in preparation for this morning, I did the following (check out my signature for current setup):

  • New lighter springs in the distributor... when I took the old ones out, I could hardly pull them apart they were so old

  • New accelerator return spring (my old setup was rubbing on the intake manifold, it is silky smooth now)

  • Bought new secondary springs, but did not install them (wanted to see what it looked like with the stock first)

  • Verified that my timing was at 39 degrees total (this got adjusted down to 37 during the dyno)

  • Changed the fuel filter and spliced the fuel line (I had a crimp in the hard line under the chasiss... you may have seen a posting I had asking questions on that topic)

Anyway, here is the graph with the four runs I had:

Dyno_run_4-22-2006.jpg

The first run was a baseline with no changes and used 4th gear. The second run wasn't much different than the first... and again used 4th gear.

The third run had the timing adjusted to 37 degrees and used 3rd gear. The fourth run we added the lightest spring possible for the secondaries so they would open sooner and again used 3rd gear.

As you can imagine, my best potential for power improvement would be to get rid of the 2.79:1 rear and my 4sp toploader. Maybe a T5z with 3.55:1 or something... but that is a discussion for another day (and covered a million times I am sure on this forum).

With all that said, wow! My adrenaline is still kickin...

Speaking from experience?

His (coolblue65) combination (289 w/ TF heads) would support that with his 275 RWHP. That would definately up the fun factor a notch! :nice:

Yeah I am, when I first rebuilt my motor good heads weren't in the budget, so I had some minor work done on the stock ones. After 2 years, I was able to get the Trickflows, and they added just about 50 RWHP and about 40 RWTQ.....with a healthy loss of compression because of the TF's 61cc chambers.
