Hey guys, I've been building Ford diesel trucks and IH trucks since I'm 15, going on 29 now. Had a friend with a 88 GT convertible I drove a few times and liked. Finally decided to look for one, traded a 88 F350 Crew cab dually diesel for it.
The car I got is a 89 GT 5.0 5 speed GT40P heads, mild cam, BBK cai, explorer intake, 8mm wires, msd coil, headers, dual flowmasters, STC4 tuner, short throw shifter, and swapping an electric fan. Did a little research and this car is very clean in the usual trouble areas. Somebody painted it with a brush at one point, then spray bombed it black... Bumper covers cracked, crappy wiring, leaking sunroof. I suppose it's a good start if I wind up putting it in a ditch! Ha. Anyhow, couple things I need to straighten out, gives a puff of smoke when you get on it after it idles, thinking valve seals, and maybe better springs, Rear control arm bushings are all beat, thinking getting some tubular ones with poly bushings. About a 3/4" lean to the passenger side, looking for decent coils, maybe a little lower. Car really runs awesome, just looking for any tips and tricks while going over it. Plan on it just being a daily driver, burn off some tires here and there. Don't plan on any serious track time, or road course runs. Thanks guys.
