Just got nitrous

hey i just got a zex nitrous kit for my stang with a pretty much stock motor (look in Sig) how much nitrous should i be able to shoot and not hurt the motor. Im thinking a 75 shot is that safe.

I run 125 wet kit with my high mileage motor. It would be safe with the 75 shot and just start slow and get used to how it kicks in. If you have smaller shots I would start with the smallest you have and just work up from there. Zex has a built in computer for your system if Im right and should shut the nitrous off if fuel pressure drops below a certain level. Also watch your timing with the nitrous on. Run lower base timing and with small adjustsments work with it staying away from the dreaded ping. You will wonder why you didnt try nitrous before.

i think compression tests aren't to much money, right? i would do that then shoot 75-100?? but i'm no expert

i have always heard it is pretty safe with 100 shot,but do some reasearch before you go sprayin too hard.

nothing as of yet should i. i was told a the stock fuel pump should handl 75 shot just fine. im getting a good tune up i have good plugs and wires. what else could i do. like i said this is all new to me.

I wouldnt spray no more then 125. anything above a 75 shot your gona need a bigger fuel pump.

i have a NOS 80 shot ready to get sprayed tomorrow night for the first time. i put 93 octane in today and will back the timing up to 8* before spraying. I have no idea what my plug gaps are on my Autolite 25s. I dont think the 80 shot will be sufficient enough to blow out the spark.

The stock fuel pump is hardly adaquite as is, and it's probally old if not original. Running lean with nitrous isn't a good idea.

I would:

1. Get a better fuel pump, might as well get a 255lph. As well as be sure the whole system is clean and clear as well as a new Fuel Filter if the current one has over 15K miles or 1 year on it.
2. Run Autolite 24's.
3. Run timing a 10*, maby start with 8*.
4. Start with the smallest shot and work you way up.

All hype.... I say run it at 100 shot... that zex contorller is the next best thing since sliced bread as it will adjust fuel pressure and spray based on throttle and bottle pressure. It was made to be used on a stock car with a stock setup....so unless you have HCI or injectors just put stock gap plugs stock range and run it with stock timing.....
worked for me.

worked for me.

Kinda funny same guy did that on a dyno tune day he thought he was real smart well needless to say his engine went kaboom on the dyno in front of everyone and the local shop tried to tell him it needs to be tuned or atleast run the right and proper equipment.

start with the 75 and 10* timing, one step colder plugs, i know the zex is safe with fuel and all but i wouldnt go more the 75 with the stock pump, you should change your pump anywayz now cause your gonna do it somewhere down the line, at least do it now before you run lean with the juice

I run a 100 shot

255 lph fuel pump
fuel pressure regulator
autolite 24's
96 octane (mix of 91 and c12)

no problems at all. except my tires seem to spin faster and car picks up speed when i hit my button... got to figure that problem out

100 shot wet kit
255lph, AFPR
Autolite 23 plugs at .035 gap
MSD digital 6 set to take out 6* of timing when solenoid activates
91 oct gas with a friends homemade octane boost

I also recommend some safety equipment like a RPM Activated window switch and fuel pressure safety switch. Good luck because as soon as you squeeze for the first time, you will be hooked.
