I picked up my fox from the body guy.I supposidly paid for body work, complete prep for paint and prime of course. I pick it up and its a white and yellow dalmation of spots. The body work is good got the rust out and the doors line up with the fenders and etc.,he tells me its a POS the frame is bent and i should get rid of it,i think im just going to have to fix this.
The prep/prime well like i said only on about 25percent of the car.but hes a buddy and i know hes busy and he gave me a really good deal..anyways. I pay him and fire it up, it sounds off but i havnt had it for like 3weeks so i just thought i was OFF,lol. but once i turn out to the main road, i push on the pedal to put the 5.0 into the ground(hey 3weeks without it is a killer) and nothing. Runs like a 4 maybe a 6cyl but sure not the 5.0 i left 3 weeks ago. Sounds boggy, i thought it had a misfire, you know maybe a wire was loose.the exhaust sound different.I have no time cuz i have to go to work now but thought i could ask some of you guys for some ideas...
Symtoms:
Boggy,slow,exhaust sounds off.
Barely brakes traction.like a v6 mustang.
No serious engine bay sounds like knocking etc.
Thats all i have for right now till tommorow,
maybe its the computer,MAF,etc...Any ideas would help.

First thing that pops in my head is that maybe while doing the body work he disconnected the battery while having the doors open so as not to run the battery down. That would have reset the computer and it will take it a few miles to "re-learn" it's settings.

man it sounds like its misfiring seriously, but i disconnected all of the wires at the cap whiles shes running and if anything there might be a no good plug but nothing that would make this thing run and sound off. i just got a code reader that my uncle had lying around for his bronco. Its brand new and works on the foxes. I just read the book it sounds a lil complicated but i'll get some codes tommorow. any suggestions on what to check as far as the misfiring.

I pulled some codes with the scanner. The blinking light kind. Im a nube to this so don make me feel stupid. That thing wasnt the easiest thing to understand....I have 85,87,95,587;those are the ones im pretty sure i decoded right.
These im not so sure of.:13,21 or 12,94,194.

but here is the thing i did a koer test and it changed the idle up and down for about minute and then got some of those codes.i put the scanners switch on hold before shutting the key off and the whole engine shutdown and the sacnner light and nosie was solid. I unplugged the scanner and started it again now it was sounding/running normal.I test drove it and is pulling like a champ.i put 2 gallons of gas and have drove it for 20+miles to pay some bills and see if the computer was gonna fowl up again, its fine for now. I dont understand,is 20miles enough driving to see if its gonna act up again. Im gonna try to pull some codes again after the weather clears....!!???
but im confused..any ideas

Something could have happened while it was sitting, like an in jector or two getting stuck shut, maybe even a valve stuck open. Dunno, just a thought, things can happen when a car sits for a while.

20 miles is a good drive to see if it's working right, but you never know, it could be some intermittent problem that will creep up later, but for the moment I wouldn't worry about it.

It's possible that the computer was just re-learning from a battery disconnect. In my experience though, when the computer relearns my idle might be a little weird, but it usually still runs pretty good.

Just keep driving it and see how it goes. And bring your AAA card!

Good luck.

well i dont have AAA i need to look in to that.
but i just pulled some codes im only getting 85,87.

`87 (O) Fuel pump circuit fault (check inertia switch) -
Vehicles with 2BBL carb - Temperature Compensated Accelerator Pump Solenoid -
(M) intermittent in fuel pump primary circuit -
NOTE: On some Escorts with automatic seat belts this code is normal IN MEMORY due to the wiring...
....Well my inertia switch is completely missing i guess someone ripped it off. I knew that for a while.I thought it wouldnt let the car run but i guess it being disconected completely just sends a fault code..

85 is the CANP solenoid. I could replace it,if its cheap otherwise the car is running good now. But i doubt either 85,87 are really serious enough...does anybody know what to look under for one of those canp slenoids.so i can goto the parts store.
