Why pay $100 to a muffler shop to install a midpipe when you can do it yourself? That was my theory anyways. It took me and my bro 5 hours, but we did it -- We put on my offroad UPR x-pipe with MIL fix.
The car stuttered on the first start, but the check engine light didn't come on. Phew. The second time it started up fine with no stuttering, and no CEL.
Sound - All I had was flow original 40 series welded in, and some tips. The sound at idle is louder with a much more defined burble/echo. God bless the sound at idle. When I first revved it up, I got lots of popping/rasp, but thus is to be expected with a cold engine. So me and my bro go for a drive, and the exhaust mellows out nicely. The sound is FREAKING INCREDIBLE. It has so much bark to it, it sounds like a demon from hell at WOT. There is some rasp in the mid rpm, but it's only for ~600rpm, and it's only when I give it 80%+ throttle. In all other circumstances, no rasp. On cold starts it will be a bit raspy, but who cares, the car is cold.
Power: The car revvs a bit freer, that I did notice. The car pulls a little harder, especially past 5000rpm. I did notice the power increase. Hopefully I will notice more once the ECU adjusts. (if it even does) Cobras haul @ss!
So anyways, overall I am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase. Theres also something about installing it yourself that gives you a sense of pride. I ruined a shirt though, well worth it though. I payed $139 via their hotline and it got here the day after I ordered! The guy was nice too, I recommend them highly. The pipe fit nicely, almost like a glove. It was kind of a tight squeeze, but that's expected from any aftermarket pipe. There were no fitment problems though, we just had to wiggle the pipes a bit.
I am very happy I went with this X-pipe, it's everything I hoped it would be, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is debating which X over an Hpipe.
