Got to say I was expecting a difference; but all I have to say is wow! I have been riding around on the original four leaf springs and just installed new 4 1/2 springs by Maier's racing with the KYB shocks and the racing shackles. It is amazing the positive differnce in the ride! The rear actually seems to stick going through corners... I didn't even know how bad I had it in the past.

If you are still running on your original leaf springs, I highly recommend swapping them out. Next is the front end!

1 inch lower than stock. I was suprised at how low it took my car... it is at least as low as my stock (with the 39 years of sagging) if not lower. I figured the 1 inch drop would have been higher than my stock setup... but it will look nice when i get the front dropped to match. I am very happy with the setup!

Here is a link to the ones I got:

Let me know if you have any other questions,

If you are satisfied with the performance from those leaf springs. I would suggest you go with 620 springs with the KYBs when you do the front end. Do the 1" A-arm drop a.k.a. "shelby drop" and add a 1" or greater sway bar with quality bushings. You can stiffen the front end more by adding a export brace and monte carlo bar also. I did a similar setup as mentioned along with the same leafs as you and my car handles great and has a great stance. For street driving you can't beat this combo when considering costs. Good luck and glad to see your happy with the way your car rides.

Scott, what is the distance from the ground to the top of your rear wheel well opening now? Interested in maybe doing the same... Thanks - Randy

After I replaced my 40 year old and sagging leaf springs and took it for a drive, I said the same thing. WOW.

Except mine was coupled with WOW no more tire rubbing, WOW no more suspension bottoming out, and WOW I can go over dips at faster than 15 mph without shredding rear tires

I've ordered performance 600 coil springs (1 inch drop), do you think there will be much of a difference performance wise from the 620? I also have the 1 inch front sway bar and 3/4 inch rear sway bar ordered, all with poly busings (including the coil spring insulators). I installed the KYB's in the rear when I tackled the leaf springs and have the set for the front as well. My last addition are the roller spring perches which are sitting on my work bench waiting to be installed once I get the coil springs.

I all ready have the one piece export brace and a monte carlo bar installed. At some point in the future I would like to get setup with sub-frame connectors... but probably won't be this year.

I wasn't planning on taking on the Shelby drop yet... but I may need to in order to get the proper stance, as my rear is sitting almost exactly 2 inches lower than the front (measured from ground to the center of the bottom lip of the fenders). I'll probably put the front end together with-out the drop and see how things work out and address it if neccessary.

It's going to be a great week here in Raleigh for driving the drop top! Beautiful weather almost all week!

I will re-measure during lunch today, but I want to say it was 25" in the rear and 27" in the front. I have the serious stink bug stance right now and it looks a little akward.

I was wrong (happens all the time); I am sitting 24" in the rear from the ground to the center of the fender. I am running pretty small tires though in comparison to quite a few people on this forum. 215 - 70R - 14's.
