i have an 02 gt w/4500 miles. i have never drove a car with an aftermarket shifter. it seems pretty loose to me and makes a good amount of noise. it even makes noise when i'm sitting still and i put it in neutral and let off the clutch. is this normal. i thought the steeda was the one that made the noise. could i have done something wrong. the more feedback the better. thank you

You will get more noise with an aftermarket shifter. Should be normal.

the noise is pretty normal with all after-market shifters. I have a tri-ax, but i dont know about the loose part. I never drove a 5.0 but i thought that shifts would be more firm with an aftrmarket. It shouldnt feel loose or sloppy

I got very little noise with my Tri-ax. Did you re-install the rubber cover? Also, make sure your stop bolts have not worked loose.

Also make sure the bolts that hold the shift handle to the shifter itself are tight. I had mine on for about a week and all of a sudden the handle felt pretty sloppy. I had to take everything apart and tighten those bolts. Haven't had a problem since. It is noisy though compared to the stock unit. Oh well, that's the price you pay for perfection.

I have pretty much no noise with mine. You should put the rubber boot back on because that will cancel alot of the noise. Also you can tape the bottom of the shifter handle with some electrical tape that bolts right at the shifter base. This will absorb some of the heat and vibrations that travel through the handle.

Did you reinstall the little plastic cup onto the ball on the bottom of the shifter that goes into the transmission? I know its required on the Tri-Ax. Also, you should be fine with just the rubber boot that bolts into the console between the shifter and shift boot.

I installed my Pro 5.0 about 4 months ago and reused the little plastic cup from the stock shifter. It's a little noisier than stock, but a little noise is better than missing 3rd gear!

check to make sure the handle is tight on the base. after my first long trip with my pro 5.0, the hex bolts had worked loose on the handle. tightened them up and they havent come loose again.
