Well i just purchased my first brand new car. Its a 2004 Black Mustang GT. I got it just the way i wanted it 5 speed, hood scoop, and the spoiler. Only thing is the exhaust sounds "ok" but im looking for something with a little more rumble. When looking through webpages i see several different options. I've been to www.mustangexhaust.com and have listened to several but you really cant get a good feeling for what your buying by listening to sound clips on a webpage.

Im just looking to replace my mufflers because i have the stainless tips and am happy with them. If you guys could let me know what brands you suggest.

Thanks

If you're only replacing the mufflers, and want a low, rumbly sound, I would HIGHLY recommend a set of Magnaflow Magnapacks. Awesome, low rumbly sound, and they sound much more deep and rich than the sea of 40 series flows you'll find out there.

I've got the same car, 2004 black GT. I was in your position earlier this year. I went through all the options and checked them all out. I wanted the low rumble sound as well.

I went in to the muffler shop and was about to get the magnaflows welded in but changed my mind and went with the flows orignal 40 series.

The magnaflows didn't sound that different from stock to me whereas the flow 40 series was just what I was looking for.

I'm completely satisfied with my choice.

The only cat back system I would switch to would be the Bassani.

Great guys thanks for the advice, would anyone happen do know the exact part number or more specific product ID information.

Here's a couple of sound vids of Magnapack Catback on an '03 GT:

Part number is 15673, but that is for a complete Magnapack catback system. You can just get the Magnapack Mufflers at a muffler shop, which is what I did. Paid $150 for parts and installation a year ago.

Also check out the Magnaflow website:

I'd go with the 40 series flowmaster also, I love the sound I get with my stock set-up. A few people around here have the magnapack mufflers and they sound good also but mine don't seem to gurgle like their's do. I like the hollow ceramic type sound the flows give off!

Magnapacks are a nice compact straight-through round muffler that also yields better power than a chambered muffler like flowmasters. Chambered mufflers create a little restriction in the exhaust flow that you don't get with a straight-thru muffler like Magnapacks.
