Just put in some New rack bushings

Well I picked up some polyurethane rack bushings from EnergySuspension and All I have to say is WOW! what a difference, Kicking noise is gone and my bumpsteer issue is gone also. Steering wheel IS ROCK solid threw turns, steering response is so much better less play. I should have done this a long time ago. it even improved ride quality. I dont feel every little thing into the steering wheel anymore. I could not believe how crappy he stock bushings are. They are so soft. And on the drivers side the rear bushing was completely gone. I had no idea though I had to get the rack out to do it, lol. I figured since I had it out I should put it threw the parts washer, and wow its gray again not full of THICK BLACK Guck. Anyways This was an awesome upgrade, and a not to difficult one. Next I want the Polyurethane sway bar bushings and end link bushings.

Glad you like em. Another pricer but nicer option is MM aluminum ones...there like $40 but man...no deflection at all and feedback is amazing. I dunno why ford didnt rigidly mount the rack in the first place. I notice no more noise and harshness than with the stock rubber bushings.

How much did you pay for the poly ones?

I picked them up at Murrays for $9 plus tax. It wasnt very difficult at all, took about an hour but I have a lift and air tools. Putting the new ones in just involves a few taps with a hammer and taking the old ones out was simple with a hammer and needle nose pliers. Definately worth it. worst part of it is just putting the rack back in but taking it out is simple just a little work to get the p/s lines off the rack but the fastest rack I have ever done. I hate the ones on Chrysler Dodge and jeeps, lol.

Yea $9 is substancially cheaper. I dodn't have to take any PS lines off to install my aluminum bushings .

Yea I know but I took out my rack to put it threw the pressure washer and degreaser... You really couldnt tell it was a rack from 14 years of road grime.

I chose to do the same. The previous owner installed the offset ones. I didn't actually know until I went to put in all the bushings I had purchased. I have been wondering if that attributed to what a great improvement I got when I changed all of my bushings out.

i am strongly considering this. im just not 100% sure which bushings to order, if i need rack bushings or...?

the car just has some slop in the wheel and it wants to "wander" some. car is lowered with eibach sprtlines, take-off 04 struts and shocks, upr 3 bolt cc plates and ES isolators. stock k member
