I hear you man. Loud and clear. But dam, I sure love the stang!! Cruising with the top down, pulling next to Susie Q and down shifting into 2nd gear. Gotta love it.

Have a good one, brother.

Well, I'm starting to get lazier with age... there are alot of things that I'm paying other people to do to this car that I would never have let anyone do in the past. I used to not trust others to do as good of a job as I know I would do, and I'd be paying them to half-a$$ it... but now I pick and chose who does what and how much I pay for certain jobs. You are right, about knowing how much not to pay. I've taken entire Mustangs apart from the air-filter to the metal shell, and put them back together again...but now I'm kinda like BigChief here... I don't have the time anymore.

i hear ya man. time and motivation to tackle the job is hard to come by lately for me, so i'd rather just pay to have someone to it right the first time around..

So i called a shop here in Jacksonville, FL Called HP Performance, which i got from a local mustang club. they specialize in mustangs and full built race cars and quoted me 180 for the install.. Much better than 200 quoted at another "performance shop" and much better than the 320 quoted to me from the place i normally go. The price is still about 60 more than i wanted to pay, but i guess i'll suck it up and let my credit card company sort it out. haha.

damm some of you peopel have some cheap shops. 80 bucks too install 4 springs.. you will never get that in eastern, ma

we would be right around 400 bucks in my shop. 4 hours at 93 per hour

i guess a shop that pays some kid 8 bucks a hour can do springs for 80 bucks but at the dealer i work for most of us are at least ford specialist techs and 5 of us are senior masters that make 30+ dollars a hour. we could not charge that little to do the job. i know i would'nt do it for .8 tenths and thats exactly what 80 dollars in labor would pay me.

if you can find a shop in your area with that price go for it. but i would double check every bolt when you leave. and i would not bring anythng complex to them. just easy suspension stuff and brakes.

just remember in auto repair like anything else you get what you pay for.

if i owned a mustang and could not fix it myself i would find a mustang specialist. or a really good ford tech that does side work. i would not even go to a dealer. at the dealer it's like rolling dice. you can get a good tech or a really bad one.

ask around in your area see who other mustang guys are using.

$320?!?!?! does that with or without quality anal lube?!

If u have basic tools(floor jack, Jackstand, most basic hand tools, and breaker bar helps), and case of beer, and weekend of your time, ur golden..
It took me about 5 hours or so to do it. would have been faster, but due to excessive comsumption of moltliquer during install, i got little wasted

I suppose you like to work for free.

i think it's a ok price for a shop to do it. remember a shop that does your work is responsible for the work. you have jimbob do it in his back yard or fly by night shop.and he forgets to tighten the nut on the balljoints and it falls out over a bump and you crash into minivan and kill a family of 4, what is jimbob going too do when you owe millions in damages. don't laugh a friend of mine is a lawyer and has seen people get ruined in major car crashes. insurance covers a certian amount and if you have a million dollar lawsuit against you, your stuck with the rest.

i would not trust a place that works cheap enough too put springs in for 80 bucks.

that tells me 2 things.

1. they hire really cheap help, so the kid thats installing your springs probally delivered a pizza to you last week

2. they have no shop insurance.

Like Mike said, you can't blame the shops, they go by flat rates and allow for insurance. They cover the work.

Personally, I'd do it myself. But if you must have a shop do it, then like Mike said, ask the local stang guys who they use....and trust.

Somebody needs to go back and read. BigChief said $180, not $80!!! $180 is a decent price, although I paid a little less. As long as you go to a brake, suspension, or any other reputible place you'll be okay...and I'd be much more comfortable there than with Jimbob in his garage. Who said $$400?? Now that's ridiculous!!!
