Ran three times at the Muncie Dragway. My first time ever at a dragstrip. (as a driver anyway).

Please analyze these.... i was running 87 octane, removed spare and jack.
NO posi..(gettin rebuilt soon)

it looks like if you took the beginning of run three and the end of run two, you would have a good chance at getting in to the 13's.

It's interesting that your mph in the 1/4 varies by about 5 mph, while your 1/8 varies by about 6 1/2.

How much timing were you running and have you done the standard things, like remove the intake silencer?

i just added my mods to my sig.. all of these mods were on the donor car for the notch already.. so i don't know about the timing and stuff... i am assuming normal or "stock" timing.

with that added info do these times sound good or ??

thanks

I think those times are pretty good for your first time at the track. i don't think mine were that good my first time. your times will get better the more you go. i've gone for over 8 years and sometimes i still get nervous and mess up. it's all about being comfortable and having fun..

I think that sounds a bit high for a car with gears, headers, exhaust, a cam, CAI and AC delete. I think most foxes will run low 14's stock with the free tweaks and a little weight reduction. SN95's will run mid to high 14's stock unless they have an automatic.

I would buy a timing light and advance the timing. That is easy power. You should talk to Tmoss about a ported lower, it should work really well with the cam and exhaust.

What rpm did you shift at? Lots of people here can tell a lot from just that.

How many miles are on it?

Engine has about 145,000 as far as i know. i tried to shift at about 5500...never redlined it. my tranny needs new synchros i have to wait a bit for the 2-3 shift. i launched at idle maybe like 2 grand max, and i know thats something i need to work on as well as my reaction times..

the temp was about 55 degress and altitude was probably about 1000 or below

as far as intakes go my friend is lending me his trick flow track heat while he builds his 347.. so maybe while that is on there i can send my lower to tmoss. what about the upper? does he do those too? I also would like to buy a tb i was thinking 65mm or maybe 70mm what do you think?

thanks guys.

i am super pumped about the whole track thing.. its awsome.

I've ran a 13.4@101, so your car is def. in the 13's, just not the driver, yet. Good luck, keep working at it. I find it better to achieve better times when I set goals of what I want at the track, and try and hit them.

I think Tmoss will sell you a whole new lower for only a little more than the cost to ship out your lower. He buys used intakes cheap. They really are a dime a dozen.

You also can put the stock intake on and keep your ported intake if you ever sell the car.

I think your launch is pretty good. Practice could not hurt. If your transmission is slowing you down, you know what you need to do.

I can't find those dime-a-dozen suppliers of lower intakes. Right now I don't have any spares. Anyone want to sell some?

The lowers are all the same for mustangs and T-birds and Crown vic's right? If so, I know I could find at least 20 at my three local self serve yards, but they would charge around $20 each, then there is shipping.

I thought I read that you got them for about $15.

Your 60fts were pretty good...and just remember that reaction time has nothing to do with you time...you could sit at the lights for 30 seconds and still get the same time if you wanted to...

Just keep practicing man :nice:

The car wasn't running very well and it was sputtering and hesitating intermittantly.. hopefully some injector cleaner and premium fuel will help that.

also i missed third once. but i have to wait to put it in third anyway due to the tranny needing rebuilt badly.
Every since i left the track the car is running like Ass, as though its only firing on 6 or 7 cylinders. At constant speeds you can't really notice it but under any type of acceleration you can definetly tell. I'll put new plugs in it this weekend and check the timing, since i don't know what its at now.
.
thanks
