Under a Sombrero. in WV.
I got some moisture on it yesterday because I was got caught in a down pour. This has happen before and I just dryed and clean it with a cotton swap and everything was fine . But today I broke the element off going in between the first two posts. I will need a new one which really has me ready to kick my own ass.

I might go to a 2800 instead of the 2400. Would I have to send my chip back in? I plan on getting retune soon. Could I make to the tuners? With a 2800?

Nothing like like screwing up 250 dollars/

Oh yeah I'm stupid.

No it dosen't without a maf extender. The sct is a modified lightning maf. Thats because lightning pegs around 420. Here is a thread at www.modulardepot.com of people bitching about it. http://www.modulardepot.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83178&highlight=lightning+maf

Also there is post on this thread from Ken the owner of Modular depot stating its only good to about 425. http://www.modulardepot.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46367&highlight=lmaf+peg

Here's one from www.modularpowerhouse.com
considered one of the best places in the country. http://www.modularpowerhouse.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29315&highlight=lmaf

If you tune past 425 you tuning around a pegged lmaf. I would rather have maf that doesn't begin to peg. I will be lucky to do 450 but I want room to grow.

The ones that go past the 425 mark either use maf extenders or tune around it pegged. Thats the whole point of the sct it uses a ford maf the has the extended range built in and still has great drivabilty.

Actually, LMAFs peg anywhere from 425-475 RWHP - depends on configuration. Our Gen 1 turbo Lightning had one that didn't peg till 490 RWHP. There are no hard and fast rules or no 'exact' limit. We always have Diablo MAF.ias on hand on the dyno for people who might peg their MAFs with either factory MAFs or LMAFs - they work wonderfully.

I can see why you want an SCT MAF - I think, even though you'll probably be OK with an LMAF, I WOULD recommend either an LMAF/MAF.ia or an SCT MAF for you. But, stick with the BA 2400 - when you choose a MAF you need to choose one so you are using about 80% of it's range. And the BA 2400 fits the bill for you. If you went to a 2800, you'd give up range - in other words, the tuner would have less 'points' to adjust. And the more points we can adjust, the better driveability can be.

You will need a retune with the 2800 - if that's what you go with.
