I just recently contacted K&n and they wanted to perform test on my 05' gt. they came up with prototypes for the intake and it is going to be a plastic piece of pipe that comes off the throttle body and runs into a 9 inch K&N filter cone. I t will still use the same maf sensor and what not. they took a stock dyno run on my car and with my catback it put out 275.28 HP to the wheels and with the intake kit it put down and extra 10 HP. I will recieve the kit upon production which will be at the beginning of the year. so keep an eye out for the kit.

from what the word going around is....... "with every mod you should update the computer or what not". Me pesonally, no i have not messed with my computer yet. that will be next week... but as far as modding goes the car took well to the exhaust and I am pretty sure that when k&n sends me my free intake kit the car will do fine as well. put it this way, when k&n put the prototypes on my car and then dynoed it, there was no tune and it still produced good numbers. the way I see it my tune is basically going to be for my computer to get rid of the codes or "check engine light" when I get rid of my cats. and for a few other things as well but you catch my drift. i guess it all depends on what you plan on doing to your car and how fast you will be modding it. I have jumped on every mod as soon as it has hit the shelf

Some people are saying they noticed overly lean conditions with a intake and no tune. I would think a tune would be worth it, hell you'll get more power from the tune than you would the intake.

So you got 275 just with exhaust? Sounds a little high but there are irregularities in the numbers - as many have reported upwards of 280 hp... I did not come to argue your your results, rather, I have a couple of questions about the K&N. If they use the same Mass Air Sensor, how is this accomplished? The MAS is part of the Air Box which would require a custom filter in order to accommodate the round filter they told you about. Do you just leave the top off the air to accommodate the larger filter. Do you have to modify the air box in any way? I am just curious and trying to hash out in my mind how they did the kit while still keeping the stock air box...
