it won't void your warrenty. just get a cold air intake. if you are going to spend $50 on a drop in, you might as well spend the extra $100 now and get a nice upgrade that will def increase your hp AND your gas milage. if you can keep you foot out of it. lol

Never needing a new filter is a plus. If you're concerned about the CAI not protecting your motor as well as paper they do make an outerwear for the cone filters. I used to have a K&N CAI in my Tacoma which I took to the dunes frequently. I was concerned about sand getting through so I slapped an outerwear over the filter and never had any issues. Never actually felt a gain in power but the sound was nice and I'm sure if I was to put the truck on a dyno there would be some measurable gain.So then the filters that come with the various CAIs on the market don't filter as well as the stock paper filter either?

I have used K&N filters. What I said about they're filtering ability was based on several pieces I have read concerning air filters. I no longer use K&N, but in my '06 GT with a K&N CAI, I use a filter sold by AMSOIL. AMSOIL filters are claimed to be good for 100K miles (with a cleaning every 25K miles) and there's no oiling required. AMSOIL's filtering ability is claimed to be better than K&N or stock paper.
