anyone running this kit? i just bought it today and slapped it on. the install was a small pain (trying to juggle everything together and then bolt it together!) but i felt better throttle response. my exhaust at idle is much louder and sounds meaner. it also made my exhaust a bit louder which is cool! if i had to guess, it probably gave me 5-10hp. K&N gave me a dyno sheet of a 96 cobra that gained up to 12hp on the dyno with the addition of their kit. who knows! maybe i got 12hp out of it! it's off to the dyno to find out!!

i ran that on my 03 GT, and now run the JLT True CAI on my cobra. When I get an L or 03, I'll be going to JLT again. On the dyno, my 01 gained 26.5 rwhp and 25 rwtq with the JLT.

its got the intake inside the fenderwell, with the filter way down towards the ground and the MAF right after the filter, eliminating any bends. So the air is cold, not heated by the motor like the engine bay "CAI"'s. On the minus the thing is a bitch to install and you run the risk of injesting water because the filter is so close to the ground.

honestly, its POURED here today, and i have driven probably 40 miles in the rain. zero problems. the cars run like a champ so the CAI isnt sucking in any water.

at the time, the SCT chip and steeda tri-ax. The chip had SCT's standard performance tune and gear correction programs loaded.

ironmedic... i recently got an 01cobra and was lookin to buy a CAI... i have looked online and have decided due to testimonials of others, that this kits was a great reliable product... what i'm wondering is .....what does the kit come with? the pictures shown on some sites just show the box/case and a new conical filter.....so does it come with the tube, filter, and did u have to do any drilling to install it?

well u get the prebent heat shield with a rub strip, the cone filter itself, the normal bits of hardware to mount it (including clamps), and a couple brackets. you will have to drill a small hole to attach the bracket to the car. i just attached the upper part and didnt bother drilling for the lower bracket. if u just put the lower bracket on, it wont matter if it is locked down or not.
the kit attaches itself to your MAF just like all cobras are. there is no intake tube with this kit. you will ditch your MAF screen IAW the instructions. you will also need to take the whole MAF out and pre-assemble the whole thing. it is a bit easier this way. if u have an extra hand there, it will assemble quick! (there are some gaskets that need to be held in place). i only used 1 gasket and not the other since i didnt have someone to help me put it together. no problems with 1 gasket though!
