I have about 200.00 bucks to spend this month on a mod, and am debating between the K&N FPIK or the TRI-AX shifter.
What do you guys suggest?

Would you rather be able to bang through the gears quickly or get a few HP that just a K&N filter will give you? A shifter is a must or you will lose a carlength every shift. think of it that way. Some people are perferctly content with their factory stick BUT me personally, I cant stand a factory shifter. I love my Pro 50.

Pro 5.0 > Tri-AX. Less noise, better shift.

"Johnny, which color do you prefer, red or blue?"

"Yellow!"

Anyways, go with the Tri-Ax. A shifter is the 1st recommended mod, hands down.

Yes, shifter. Get the cheaper UPR Blue Thunder. It's the same thing as the triax.

Tri-Ax.

You'll keep asking yourself "Why didn't I switch to an aftermarket shifter sooner?"

Save your transmission and get the shifter. Performance mods can come later.

Find the shifter used at www.corral.net in the classifieds for around 100.00. Then spend 50 on a new K&N airfilter along with 40.00 for the MAF to TB pipe at www.densecharger.com. 200.00 well spent.

Get a Pro 5.0, I have had it and the tri-ax and I liked the Pro 5.0 on my 99 GT much better. It had a more solid feel to it and I loved the way it clicked going into the gears. The only reason I got the tri-ax on my 03 is because I got it installed for $160, I couldn't pass up that deal.

Can you install an aftermarket shifter by yourself or do you need a shop to do it? Do you need to get under the car to access thre tranni or is it all done up inside? I'm thinking of going with the pro 5.0.

you can do it yourself but I was in between houses moving and working 3rd shift so I just got it installed. You can install it from inside the car, just make sure to set the stop bolts correctly.
