I installed it tonight and took my car for a test spin, and I really like the K&N.
I got the one that Stinger put on his website, RE-0930. I had to use an adapter to make it fit because I am running a small VAM right now and I only wanted to buy one of these. Everything is tight though. I did have to modify my VAM bracket though and drill a new hole or two in my car.
Anyways, during my test drive with it in place I noticed that it shrieks under boost. It sounds like a cross between a red-tailed hawk and when the wind is whipping through the metal screens on my front porch. I tried revving my car high in neutral and no noise. Put it back in gear, build some boost, and here comes the hawk.
This is definetely different than when my tensioner went out. Comes from a different area(where the air goes in) and does not have that rubber "squeal like a piggy" sound.
Does anyobody else's make this kind of noise? I am going to triple check my duct work and connections in the daylight.
