I found a 2.2 Kenne Bell Supercharger for sale - How much should I pay for this? It has about 5,000 miles on it and comes with a 17 and 24 lb pulley with upgraded snout and oil cooler. Depending on how much this beast costs, is it worth doing this versus a steige port. The KB is not polished. My car now has 10K on it so the Eaton is obviously in excellent condition but I don't want to spend the $$$(because I don't have it) on a 2.6 or 2.8 KB. How much will this 2.2L increase the RWHP? Current mods are just Magnaflow catback, Magnaflow O/R X-Pipe, JLT CAI, and MGW shifter. Finally, what else do I need to do, as well as cost, to make this bad boy work efficiently without damaging the car. I have an '03 Cobra. Thanks for the help as always.

Well lets say for arguments sake the KB is in mint condition and doesn't require a rebuild. Does the KB come with inlet & TB? If it comes with inlet only, is the inlet made for a single blade TB or will it work with your stock TB? Things to think about for sure...

You're still going to need an updated fuel system (Pumps, injectors, BAP) and either a new MAF or an add-on like a MAFia. Then of course the whole package will require tuning.

The added HP/TQ you'd see from a KB2.2 running the 17lb pulley would be pretty substantial. Upper 500's for sure. Now you may also need a clutch and some IRS upgrades to handle that power.

I'm sure I'm forgetting many other little tidbits... it's early and I haven't had any coffee yet.

The guys says he is looking to get $2500 for it, plus he will throw in 60# injectors(new). I believe that it comes with the inlet and TB, but will confirm. Should I just say na and get a Whipple brand new for another grand? If I go with a Whipple, do I still need to make all those other mods or is it built for the car(since it's made by Ford) and I dont need to make near as many costly mods? Thanks again

The only way to keep from having to modify the fuel system is to keep the boost low. Best bang for your buck right now is to just throw a 2.93 upper and a good tune on her. You'll be amazed at the performance gain for just a couple bucks invested. Wait until you have enough saved up to go the twin screw route. When it comes time to go twin screw you'll want to ensure you have all the supporting mods necessary so you can keep the motor together.

That's kind of what I was thinking - just go with a pulley and tune. That way I have enought money and time to get the 66 Impala painted and new motor dropped in. Should I go with the 2.76 Billetflow or 2.93? I was planning on the 2.93, but a guy that I met on the Power Tour had a port and 2.76 pulley and the dyno was 526-531 RWHP

He had to have more than just a port and a 2.76 to get those kind of numbers! He's yankin' yer chain or he's no fully disclosing his mods. A port job and a 2.76 will get you close to 500. If I were you I'd stick with just a 2.93 and a tune. You should see at least 40+RWHP/RWTQ gain and you won't be spinning the blower so fast that it becomes a giant heat pump.

He also had a few other mods similar to mine. Doesn't really matter I guess, there is something to say with a good tune though. Thanks for the help again. I will place my order at Billetflow. Does Doug have those TB ready yet? How much are they? If he does have them, are they worth picking up with the current setup or will the gains be minimal for the price? He advertises them well, but his comparison are basically stock vs stock with a TB so obviously there should be a large gap in the numbers on the dyno. If I can figure out how to post pics (other than my garage which says they are too large):nice: I will try to show a few.

I don't think the Billetflow TB's are ready yet. I know the Terminator community has been begging Doug to make another run and it's been in progress for a few months now. The highly anticipated BFTB will have some improvements over the initial run. No idea on what he'll be asking for them though. I'm on the list for one and have been for some time. I also see there's a new TB in town which is available now from Amazon Racing. I believe the actual TB & inlet are made by Dragon Performance for AR. http://www.dragonperformance.net/701-20.htm

In all honesty though, I'd wait on getting a TB if I were you. The added expense definitely outweighs the minimal HP gain you would see on your current setup. Once you go twin screw or decide to port the Eaton then think about replacing the stock one.

Just my 2 cents.

well my 03 cobra made 470 rwhp /510 tq with a 6lb lower and 3.00 upper 17 psi boost

and made 491rwhp/571 tq with 6 lb lower and 2.75 upper 20 psi boost

other mods are
ported eaton
big air #2400
k/n fipk
accufab single t/body
bass cat back no cats/ borla stinger exhast
afco double pass H/E

i just got my 2.6 k/b i got it brand new, i havent installed it yet. its pricey but worth it . i'll be over the 600 mark then ..

with the k/b 2.6L
i got 60 injectors. after i got installed i ll get my swicth chip burned to be able to drive it to the dyno , where it can be fine tuned

i got the 3.5 pulley and the 3.25 pulley with stock lower is back onit

the rpm oulet lower pulley kit i got , kept throwning belts 4 in just 400 miles so i sent it back. for an exchange. there kits are made in china dont get!!!there return and service depo sucks!!!!!

there went my $300.00 dyno tune for nothing also .

Thanks again U.M. I ordered the 2.93 s/c pulley, 4 piece idler set(unnecessary but looks nice), Gates belt, and a boost overlay today. They said the TB are in process and almost done. My interpretation was that it would be close to a month(or less) before they are ready. The cost is unknown other than comparable to the competition of TB in the market now.

Parts should be here Friday so hopefully next weekend I can get the dyno and tune. Will post numbers.

Sweet! Looking forward to seein' them. :nice:

Who's going to tune it for you?

U.M.

Either Hutter Performance in Chardon or probably Akron Horsepower will be doing the tune. Got the parts today. Probably won't get the tune for 2 more weeks now. I am waiting to hear back from these guys. It is a SCT xCal-2 tune
