KDW2 Road Noise (video)

If anyone plans on getting some KDW2's check out the road noise first

This is on an interstate, I believe it was asphalt (not concrete). The sound you hear IS NOT exhaust drone. It's 3.73 gears if you're wondering why it's almost turning 3k (overdrive). Everything in my console, dash board, kick panels, etc vibrate and make noise as a result of this. I finally got rid of the loose change in my cup holder because of the jingling sound.

I'd check for an imbalance first. Tire noise shouldn't "vibrate" the car.

yea it really shouldnt. it could be something else you're not aware of. my tires are LOUD as hell, but only at a certian speed (~30mph)

how often have you rotated them?? if tires are not rotated properly they will chop and will have a terrible noise and vibration,

Is anyone else having this issue? I was wanting to replace my Nitto Xtreme DRs with KDW2s but not if I am going to have vibration. Its bad enough with the Offroad pipe and Flos right now dont need anymore.

I haven't had any road noise probs w/ my KDWII"s at 275/35/18, the change jinggles in my car but thats from my exhaust being 12" behing my a$$

if u want to hear loud tires ill make a vid of my 33's on my truck. they start to whine at 20 and they are louder than my straights, it sucks

tire rotation is the key to even wear!! rotate then every 3k miles and keep you alignment right and they will wear even forever!

i think your tires are chopped. the KDW2's chop very easily.

so how often did you rotate them?

My Goodyear GSD3s are significantly quieter than my old Sumitomos. It's kinda difficult for me to rotate them from front to back.

you might want to check the inside tread of the tires and like everyone said, a rotate and balance and definatly an alignment


my sister has these on her 325 and the inside tread was feathered (sawtooth pattern) like a s.o.b

the previous owner was fairly negligent so i'm sure it's never had an alignment

The KDW2's come in 2 different patterns. If you have these, there's nothing wrong. I have them now and they are more most nosiest tire I ever owned.

My KDW2's don't do anything like that. Sure they're a little loud but I rarely hear them because of my exhaust and my music. The noise I have that i'd love to get rid of is my gear whine.. now THAT is annoying

Can't rotate the tires. I have 255's on the front and 295's on the back. The tires are wearing fine but the noise is worse from the right front so I think I'm going to get it checked out. Might be a tie rod end or something.

you can rotate them. it isnt easy but it is possible. you have to dismount each tire and flip it on the rim. you will get better tread life out of them that way too.

tie rods dont make noise unless they are nearly falling off. i'm guessing they are chopped. run your hand across the tread backwards and see if they are smooth.

Weird, my KDW2's aren't that loud at all. My fronts are loud but they're Sumitomos and its not that bad.

my KDWs (1, not 2s) were loud as hell too, always vibrating loose change, made my car sound like it had swamper tires. This was with a perfect balance and even wear on all tires. POS if you ask me, waste of $160 each

Can't do that either. They're directional tires.
