Keeps dying with new cold air intake

I got this pro m cold air intake and switched out the maf sensor with the one I had on my bbk but when I did that car dies unless holding gas. Can it be that the throttle is a 70 mm too small for it? Do I need to adjust fuel pressure or do I need to upgrade and get a bigger throttle? I used a smaller blue rubber seal thing inside the other to make up for the space

My "guess" without something else to go on, is that you need to smooth out the "runway" of air leading up the MAF sensor.

I also noticed in the image, that the pipe leading up to the sensor looks larger than the one leading away from the sensor. That is likely the source of restriction and turbulence across the sensor.

Shuts off (stalls) when dropping down to idle with both tube setups?
Like does it stall when you put the old setup on?
Then I would say you have a 'new' issue.
Idle RPM the same with both setups?
No it was working fine with the black bbk one. But I got that pro m and I figured it would work/should work . I swapped the stock maf to the pro m and it shuts off. I’m thinking it’s too much air. Is that possible? I’m running the car fine with the black one right now. For some reason the car I guess dosent like the pro m

So the original setup id the black piping and it is a BBK kit. This is considered a cold air kit because the filter element is in the inner wheel well getting “cold” air. What MAF housing and what MAF element came with it?

The other setup with the silver tube and under the hood element has the Pro-M MAF. What size is the housing and what does the tag on the MAF element say (picture would be great)?

Last question is what injectors does the motor have?

Some pro-m 80's are a bitch to idle. My beater has the same set up old pro-m 77 on a c&l elbow. It will idle with my older then dirt pro flow 77, but won't with a much newer plastic 80mm maf.

That's also not a stock Maf on the bbk, looks like a c&l housing with a ford sensor.

The black bbk I have no issues with but I was given the pro m and I like it better so I wanted to run it. I have no idea on the housing. I removed the black bbk cold air and installed the pro m. I removed that white pro m maf cuz it’s cal for 42lb injectors and installed the stock one thats on my bbk so I figured it should run fine. I didn’t swap the housing just the maf I’m running 30 lb injectors and have been .

Yes ur right it’s a ford maf on the bbk and a cl housing on the bbk but for some reason when I swapped the pipe to the pro m the car didn’t like it. I didn’t try and drive it though but if it won’t stay on at idel I ain’t driving it lol

I'm really confused now, that 80mm mass air meter is the only thing pro-m in your pictures and your not using that or the plastic 80mm maf? A stock ford sensor will not work on an pro-m 80 well at all if you are swapping sensors between the two..

So if I'm reading it right all your swapping is the c&l cast intake elbow and the black bbk piping while keeping the c&l Maf with the ford electronics on it? Are you still running the front half of the bbk pipe into the fender, if not what filter are you using on the end of the meter? Check size is the c&l housing to, the old 73mm has a different calibration tube for 30lbs then the 76mm housing, think its purple vs red. I have one nib in one of my parts bins I can probably check later. 76mm housing is what came with that cast c&l elbow in kits so it could be why. You could try clocking it, c&l housings can be a bit finicky especially if it has an elbow in front of it. On smaller throttle bodies with that elbow I've cut down the inner silicone sleeve so it fits completely on the throttle body to help them seal up but accufabs tend to have more clamp areas then bbk throttle bodies, you can get reducer silicone sleeves pretty cheaply on ebay though.

For clarification you have stated the following:

1) You completely removed the existing black BBK system with the C&L meter housing and stock Ford MAF electronics.
2) You then installed the cast C&L metal pipe, Pro-M meter housing, stock Ford MAF electronics from the BBK setup, and the conical filter.
3) You also stated that the Pro-M MAF electronics are calibrated for 42 lb/hr injectors so that is why you went back to the stock Ford MAF electronics.
4) You also stated that you are running 30 lb/hr injectors.

Couple of questions:
1) Is the car running on the stock ECU and if so it is tuned?
2) If it is not tuned was the MAF in the BBK setup calibrated for the 30 lb/hr injectors?

Sorry for late response. Yes car running on stock ecu not tuned. And the maf ford maf had always been rubbed for 20 years with the 30 lb injectors. I believe that maf is calibrated for 30 lb because in the past I have tried 19lb injectors and it will not take them.

Well... If you haven't already, put your 30 lb injectors together with the MAF for the 30 lb injectors. O_o

Don't swap either of those parts that you've been running for the "last 20 years". O_o

I'm certain you already knew that you couldn't mix and match these parts.
