I always heard that kenne bells were really expensive compared to other superchargers. However, i have been doing some research because i am looking for a inter/aftercooled supercharger kit. The kennebell intercooled kit is almost 5k for a 2003 gt. A vortech kit from steeda is almost 5k as well. Are vortech aftercooled supercharger kits just as costly as kennebell intercooled kits?

Vortech Kit shouldn't cost 5k....unless your getting the aftercooler with it.

You can get a Mongoose Kit for around 3,800 from www.modularpowerhouse.com

Remember, with Kenne Bell, you get an intake as well.

the kits are very similar in price if you compare aftercooler and intercooler.

KB vs vortech without any kind of cooler $3600-3800

then with a cooler then you get up to the $4800-5k if I am not mistaken.

Many people don't seem to be a fan of the 6psi kb so they don't talk about it too much.

Packaging, manifold design, and to a small extent....displacemnt. KB supplies a 1.7L and a 2.2L twin screw in their SOHC kits and Whipple uses a 1.6L and a 2.3L twin screw in theirs.

You can only get Whipple blowers through Saleen. Well at least the 2V ones. I think those blowers have been discontinued too. So once Saleen runs out of them they are gone. Go with Vortech or Kenne Bell.

For the SOHC, I'd go with the Kenne Bell in the 1.7L. Its manifold design is much better than the others in that size and will support the most power. Saleen and Roush both utilize the Whipple compressor and in some ways they're kits are better than Kenne Bells....but manifold design and peek power are not one of them. If I were going bigger than that, I'd go with either the KB 2.2L kit or the Allen Engine Development (AED) 2300AX kit for all out positive displacement glory.

Better off getting Twin Turbos for 7k.

if you call MPH and tell them what you are looking to do and power range they will give you the best info, and pricing for what you want to do.
My comment about Steada isn't to say they are crap, only that others do it as well or better for same or less money.

If you go with vortech supercharger opt for an air to air from paxton same price but can flow more cool air for higher HP.

KB

You are correct, if you include the intercooler price and the intake, the prices are all very close. Go with the KB, you will not find anyone who actually has one with any complaints (except maybe gas milage if you like boost).

i wanted the mph mongoose kit novi 2000 kit for the longest time. i see that its 4,300 bucks with out a intercooler. i dont know what mph will charge for the paxton intercooler, but if its normal price then the kenne bell is actually cheaper.

now im considering the kenne bell. if im to throw an p51 intake on with the paxton (which i would do to get rid of the plastic crap) then the price will be way over.

i really wanted thenovi 2000 mph kit, but now i dont know. hope mhp can cut me a good deal on the intercooler with the kit.

Why don't you run a Snow Stage II boost cooler with the Novi instead of the I/C and call it a day if "bang for the buck" is what you're after? Yeah, the Novi 2000 is more expensive than the Kenne Bell 1.7L, but it's also a lot more blower. Their S-Trim Mongoose kit would probably satisfy all but the most power hungry and still not break the bank.

Just a thought
